On the farm...

Brentz, Travis and Lin all with 2 hits for Pawtucket

Chavis was 1 for 3 with an HR and a BB. He now has 25 HRs in just 350 ABs.

OPS leaders on the farm (290+ PAs):

.977 Chavis

.966 Barfield

.955 Devers

.875 Brentz

.857 de la Guerra

.839 Ockimey

.824 Castillo

ERA (65+ IP)

2.05 Velazquez

2.56 J Beeks

2.75 Olmos

3.12 Jimenez

3.25 D Gonzalez

3.38 Walden

Pretty amazing that our OPS leader is only at .810, and even after tonight's game we only have one guy over .791:

.810 Betts

.791 Pedey

.790 JBJ

.784 Nunez (2 teams)

.782 HRam

.756 Beni

.752 Bogey

.726 Moreland

.719 Young

.684 Leon

.654 Vaz

I guess the good news is that none of our top 7 PA players are under .752.

For those who wanted "balance", you got it!

7 of our top playing players have an OPS within a range window of .058, and our top 8 batters by PAs have an OPS window of just .084. (Top 9 window is .091)

I don't see a lot of run production coming from those lineups, but i do like Betts in the 4 hole

Bogey and JBJ will be higher. Betts will be lower (first time through). ERod isn't eligible. Pom and Kelly will be much higher. You need to factor in about $5-10 mil of leeway for midseason moves. Based on these numbers and a $195 mil cap, I don't see how DD stays under.

They won't. They got their reset on it. Spend away Henry.

I agree 100%. We just need to get Betts back to hitting the ball hard.

It's not this bad now either.

All teams go through team slumps.

We're busting out tonight!

It will get better offensively.

I like the look that Devers and Nunez give our line up.

This is why it is so important to reset this year. It will be difficult to do next year.

They don't need to stay under next year. That's why we are trying to reset the level this year.

We can go $20M over next year.

Cots has ERod scheduled for his first of 4 arbs in 2018.

Has Henry ever green lighted a $20 mil over lux tax roster salary?

In case nobody noticed it Guardians are just as hot as KC. Yanks are playing a weak Tiger team, got to play good. Edited by OH FOY!

No, but with just a 12% tax next year, I think the Sox may go $19M over next year and 2019 (20% tax).

C. A. No help needed Could use some offense, but I'm okay with our catchers. I don't give them an A with an OPS below .675.

1B C Old and un-reliable This is where we can upgrade this winter.

2b B-getting old He's looking very good. He may age better than we thought.

SS C badley over rated His D id a C- or D: his offense is a B- to C this year, but may end up around A-/B+

3B A Set for a long time (2 rookies) I hope you're not relying on Lin or Marrero here.

LF B One OK for future, one too old

CF A no help needed here

RF A no help needed here

DH: HRam should be the FT DH next year as we sign a new 1Bman

SP B DL a problem I'd like to see us get Sonny Gray.

RP A to D help needed We need a rental. Our hopes for the future are tied to Smith/Thornburg.

No DH?

Thanks, never thought of it! I would be surprised if it was not Nunez, exclusively, in the near future. That would rate an A don;t you think? If it continues Hanley/Moreland, I'd give that no better than a B. I'd also call it "temporary"

He is monotone as hell. It is like listening to a solemn reporting at a funeral.

"Although I do not consider myself worthy of such an honor, I am deeply moved and sincerely grateful to receive an official Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series Championship ring," he said in a statement. "I am fully aware of the historical significance and appreciate the symbolism the ring represents on multiple levels. My family and I will cherish it for generations. Most meaningful is the genuine outreach from the Ricketts family, on behalf of the Cubs organization and fans, signifying to me that I am welcomed back into the Cubs family and have their support going forward. I am relieved and hopeful that the saga of the 2003 foul ball incident surrounding my family and me is finally over.

"I humbly receive the ring not only as a symbol of one of the most historic achievements in sports, but as an important reminder for how we should treat each other in today's society. My hope is that we all can learn from my experience to view sports as entertainment and prevent harsh scapegoating, and to challenge the media and opportunistic profiteers to conduct business ethically by respecting personal privacy rights and not exploit any individual to advance their own self-interest or economic gain."

"Moreover, I am hopeful this ring gesture will be the start of an important healing and reconciliation process for all involved. To that end, I request the media please respect my privacy, and the privacy of my family. I will not participate in interviews or further public statements at this time.

"Words alone cannot express my heartfelt thanks to the Ricketts family, Crane Kenney, Theo Epstein, and the entire Cubs organization for this extraordinary gift, and for providing the City of Chicago and Cubs fans everywhere an unforgettable World Championship in 2016. I am happy to be reunited with the Cubs family and positively moving forward with my life."

Pedroia is going to see a knee specialist tomorrow. Farrell said they can't rule out the DL for him. Volume of play has worn him down
