That pen is going to be deadly. We may not have much after Severino right now, but Sabathia has been quality, Montgomery had been good up until he started in Boston and Tanaka had been an ace aside from this season. We have the makings of a rotation that can at least give us 5-6 innings. We don't need 7 or 8. If we get a lead after 5, we have the guys to hold it

Betances seems like he's back. His last 7IP 4H 0ER 12K 1BB. Kahnle is a beast. DRob can pitch with anyone, even though he gave up a run yesterday. If we get Chap rolling right, we'll win games after 4

BTW, I really, really like Clint Frazier.

I had my doubts before calling him up, but he's really fun to watch. He could be a monster in that lineup and the energy he brings to the game is amazing

None of this would have happened if Fowler didn't get injured. I'm curious if Fowler didn't get injured and played reasonably well, would Cashman have been more inclined to trade Frazier?

I don't think so, Cashman always been high on Frazier; I believe the one gone would be Fowler

Both are high level prospects. I think the eventual plan was for both to be out there with Judge. Frazier is must see baseball right now and really cannot come out of the lineup. Gardy and Judge aren't going anywhere. When Hicks returns, he might be 4th OFer again and Ells might be dealt away for nothing

Really liking how this team is shaping up. I hope we don't make a big trade. Maybe a deal similar to the one with Pazos or Gamel, target guys in the lower systems we like for 40 man roster crunch guys. Jake Cave?

You look at what we have Judge, Sanchez, Fraizer, heck even Castro, Hicks, and Didi are younger. Then on the pitching side, LS and Mont pitching well. It's exciting, esp with another wave coming to the majors next year in Torres, Fowler, Acevedo, Adams, and I hope Bird gets healthy.

Not sure I understood the strategy last inning. Jennings, a lefty, gives up two straight hits to lefties, so the Yankees do the Rays a favor and pinch hit for Ellsbury to get Boxberger in the game. Leaves Tyler Wade, a .112 hitter in the game to hit.

It is easy to understand. Managers are idiots. If one more manager brings in a lefty to pitch to Didi I am going to scream. He kills lefties. Red's manager did it yesterday and Didi homered. Brain dead Cash did it tonight and Didi got a lead off hit.

lol I don't know if you ever heard of Clay Travis, but on his radio show he said most managers/coaches save for a few would be be gym coaches making $50 K if it weren't for professional sports.

Most gym coaches have masters degrees, so I wouldn't insult them by comparing them to baseball managers.

Interesting game. Girardi's pen confidence had him pull CC early and he got burned taking a 3-2 lead and turning it into a 5-3 deficit. But as with the typical performance of the pen, they go 5 shutout innings from there and the O gets it back. The depth of this pen is clearly abnormal. I like the move to burn Chap for two innings. It means DRob is fresh to close tomorrow. Green and Chap will be out tomorrow. Kahnle, Warren and Betances didn't have a big workload vs the Rays and weren't used in Wednesday's win vs the Reds, so they should be available if needed tonight. Even after an 11 inning game, we should have a fresh closer in DRob and a bridge available of Warren, Betances and Kahnle. That's good, because Tanaka is throwing and who knows if good Masa will be there or bad Masa will be there

Those 'damn' Yankees are now a half game out while the Sox are mired in yet another Days of our Lives soap opera filled with who gives a s*** over who said what to whom. Players don't end their careers over there because the media has an fn hard-on and the fans are fn nuts.

On a brighter note, every time Judge comes to the plate I'm thinking Paul Bunyan or that Casey character in the Disney cartoon. The guy's a mythical juggernaut. That hackneyed gripe that the Yanks just buy their way is a bunch of partisan ********. Gehrig, Dimaggio, Mantle, Mattingly, Jeter, Williams, the list goes on and on. GO YANKEES.

I expected the Yanks to get Harper when he was available; I didn't expect them to already have a homegrown monster of their own when they did it. GO YANKEES.

I am listening to EEI this morning and wow, the media hates this sox team. I love it. Plus, the yanks may be a half game out, but we're up a game in the loss column. Slow and steady here.

They really should just go and get Gray or Darvish. The Yankees are the best team in the AL.

There's nothing to fear being a Yankee fan. They've already lapped the field. This isn't the Tortoise and the Hare. The Tortoise is dead. From 20-25 WS on everything else was gravy. N I love me some gravy. Go Yankees.

I dunno if we're better than Houston, but I definitely think we're one of the best teams in the AL. Yanks could definitely take on the Stros if they're playing at the top of their game. Edited by bkzwhitestrican

WEEI is the worse. They'll spend an hour talking about the snowflake generation, and then proceed to cry about someone who said something mean to them.
