All signs point to a sweep; i.e., Buchholz pitching, non playoff experience for the youngsters, the pressure of having to win or go home. I feel a sweep is coming and hopefully in the off season some good decisions will be made instead of the piss poor ones that have been made recently.

I don't think they should pitch Porcello on Monday. I have way more confidence in ERod then I do in Price so it makes more sense to not send Porcello out on short rest. I know his numbers are better at home, but not by much.

 

I agree with this; I don't have any confidence in Price. I would pitch Rodriguez in game 4 and Porcello in game 5. I also like the idea of giving Porcello some extra rest--looks like he could use it.

Ok, we don't have Pedro and Schilling, but we have two guys with pretty darn good records this year to put up against the Indian's starters. I'm telling ya, winning this thing is not out of the question!

That's what I'm talking about. One game at a time. The Sox are nowhere near done. Thank goodness we have Buchholz pitching today. We have the Guardians right where we want them.

Also, there is no truth to the myth that momentum (or lack thereof) carries into the playoffs. The team's record the last week of the regular season has no bearing on how they do in the postseason.

I think what *may have* happened is that the team 'peaked too soon', as it's sometimes put. It was kind of natural for them to have a letdown after the 11 game winning streak that sewed up the division. Maybe they went a little flat emotionally. Who really knows? A lot of this stuff just can't be measured - the 'human element'.
