He pushed Porcello too far. Even if he pitched out of the 8th, I would not have pushed Porcello's pitch count that high.

Whether you agree or disagree with leaving Porcello in, one hting to consider. He had just come off of three straight stress free innings. Eck has often said you can throw all night if no one's on base. 80 pitches with guys constantly on is a lot more taxing than 110 with no one on.

120 is excessive, but it's close to 115 which is my number where you have to start thinking of getting a starter out.

With runners on 2nd and 3rd and no one out, even if the runner gets thrown out at the plate, Benintendi would have moved over to 3rd with 1 out. And if you have decided to hold the runners on a ball hit on the ground, let Benintendi know about it. Our coaching leaves a lot to be desired, even though Butterball gets to the ballpark ahead of the grounds crew.
