I used to wish fondly for a bench-clearing brawl between the O's and Rays, which ended with Showalter punching Joe Maddon in the face so hard that Maddon's hipster glasses embedded themselves in Showalter's palms. Then he would die slowly of an excruciating bacterial infection.

I'm jumping on this bandwagon too! I like that idea!!

When was the last time the Red Sox scored with the bases loaded.

I don't know. But on the telecast Dave O said they are hitting 223 with the bags full. Not that good.

It does help if you load the bases with less than 2 out, although in the Sox case that hasn't been the case lately.

Betts blew it, pure and simple. That first pitch was so fat, but he let it go by. Gallardo clearly had his number, but he also made some good pitches.

Orioles have twice walked Ortiz to get to Betts and it worked both times. Betts has left 4 men on. This is all Farrell's fault of course. He is supposed to put players in position to excel.

Since you brought it up, I would never bat such a slow guy like Ortiz in front of such a fast guy like Betts. If they walk Ortiz it takes 3 hits or a Homer to score him, and it forces Betts to run one base at a time. Stupid is as Farrell does.

Gallardo is pitching well, keeping his pitches down and mixing them up. But the Sox are also missing opportunities. Betts especially.

It is borderline criminal how the lineup is so far wasting a great start by ERod.

Nice try. It was putting that lefty in there to break up three straight righties that allowed even the possibility of some offense. All Betts needed was a little single to bring home two--Pedroia and Bogaerts--and Ortiz was the one who gave him the opportunity by getting walked.

Erod looking good. I think Eck is right , his fastball is looking like 100 mph. It's getting on the O's hitters fast.

Has he thrown any changeups?
