Wow, I didn't know that. Cabrera should have been walked. This series was a bad one for Farrell without a doubt.

HFX, this series AND the previous one.

Farrell is trying his best to get DD fired ...

This is why knuckleball pitchers are annoying:

The other problem is that, contrary to popular belief, the air is lighter on humid, drizzly days, so a pitch like a knuckleball probably doesn't move as much. Might be true of curves too. (It's also true of hits, although announcers persist in describing moist air as "heavy", which it is not.) It would be easy enough to check stats on this, although I don't know if anyone has.

Agree. The fact that the pitch was down the middle is the bothersome thing. Had Cabrera golfed one off his shoetops or tomahawked a ball at his eye level, it would be less objectionable.

Cabrera should have been walked, but even if Farrell didn't order it, Ziegler's been around awhile and should know the numbers, he should have pitched extremely carefully to MC on his own; Leon should have known the numbers and said something (it's the major part of a catcher's job IMO). Colossal failure on the part of all 3 of them.

Yes. He should not have been thrown a strike. But since Farrell made a mistake and decided to pitch to him, why did he position Mookie shallow enough for Miggy to be able to hit the ball over his head? Seems the correct tactic in that situation would have been to prevent extra base hits. This may have been mentioned earlier in this thread: I haven't read over all of it. Two mistakes by Farrell in one AB...is that a record?

yup - excellent point fred. nothing over our head should have been employed to the OF defense. especially since we went yard oppo field the previous game.
