No, he's stating that this pissing contest isn't going to accomplish anything except raise YOTN's blood pressure when he has to go through it. The original post topic is actually relevant since it happened last night. Talking about WS accomplishments from over a decade ago is pointless as it has been rehashed countless times.

Except that it wasn't the Worlds Series, it was the ALCS. A WS between two AL teams would be something though wouldn't it?

 

I keep making that mistake, and I'm going to keep making that mistake because that ALCS felt more like a World Series atmosphere than any World Series game I've ever watched.

This was a Red Sox-Yankees pissing contest from minute 1. That pretty much was the thread topic, "oh hey look, Boston legend had a Yankee ring on." I don't mind playing that game, it can be fun, and I'm pretty sure there's nothing against it in the forum rules -- but let's not even pretend that that wasn't the intention all along.

 

He brought it up because Boggs was wearing the ring on the day the Red Sox were celebrating him. That's a relevant topic, not a pissing contest.

It must be nice to be a fan of the ONLY clean team during the PED era.
We didn't win anything in the PED era- pre-2004, so it doesn't matter if we were clean or not, but at least our guys weren't paraded in front of Congress to explain how they cheated and none got prosecuted for lying to Congress and had their teammates testifying against them. LOL!! What a circus!

Exactly what reaction would you expect someone making that point to receive?

 

I've noticed that TBSF isn't quite a troll, but definitely a bit of a provocateur. Not that there's a real problem with that but when you see the post in context the resulting response was so obvious that you almost have to point out that TBSF had to have seen it coming.

You're kind of an ******* aren't you? It's fine to go on tangents, but the way this is going, it will become a flame war and the thread will be locked, which is what I'm trying to prevent.
The thread should have been locked from the initial post when Babe lit the match. If a Yankee fan wants t do that here, I will always turn the blow torch on them.

It's not a whiny complaint, you petulant little brat, it's a request, from me, politely, to keep the forum from being overrun with threads. Do you have any idea how many threads I have merged into existing ones in the last month? If I hadn't done that, the first four pages of this forum would be filled with threads, all with less than 10 posts. You'd have to go back five pages just to find a serious discussion about anything other than a fleeting issue.

 

I'm done being polite. If you guys want to ignore my requests to stop creating a thread every time you find a player's name funny or enjoyed watching tonight's game, I can't stop you. I won't ban you for something that stupid, but I'm going to keep getting rid of them until you get the point. But you can sure as hell cut it out with the damned whining about it. Every day I read a half dozen posts from you and SinceYaz that oh-so-snarkily make it clear what you think about it. Since being calm, reasonable, and continually patient just does not seem to get the message across, maybe I should start acting a little more like the jackbooted thug you apparently think I am.

 

Just remember: If I really was a totalitarian dickhead, I'd have gotten rid of all of you the first time you got all pissy at me for merging your threads about the Red Sox Offense into the Red Sox Offense thread.
