Ya know... Don't you have to feel a little bit bad for Ellsbury, being compared head-to-head on a daily basis with the hottest hitter in baseball for the past month?

Wait... what was I thinking? Of course not! :D

Ellsbury is happy as a clam with those $24M/year for 5 more years when he can retire.

Yep. And I'm happy as a clam that the Red Sox aren't paying him!

Some really rotten luck for JBJ last night. Given the debate about exit velocity and its usefulness on a couple of other threads, some may find this interesting and some may not...

From Alex Speier's newsletter*:

The move to the top of the lineup didn’t alter [bradley's] aggressiveness. In his first at-bat, he looked at one fastball from Gray and then hacked at the second, a hard-hit ball at 100 m.p.h. off the bat with a launch angle of 30 degrees. According to Daren Willman, the master of Statcast sorcery and proprietor of BaseballSavant.com, balls hit that hard and at that angle produce an in-play average of .593.

In his third plate appearance, Bradley drilled a ball to straightaway center field that pinned Colorado outfielder Charlie Blackmon at the base of the center field fence for an out. It jumped off the bat at 101 mph with a launch angle of 29 degrees. Willman noted that balls hit that hard with that launch angle had yielded hits 67 percent of the time.

Ells had the highest OPS .761 of any Yank playing last night. They are all pitch no hit this year, opposite of the Sox. NYY are 28th in MLB in extra base hits!

Bogaerts has picked up Bradley's baton..streak now at 22 straight..and getting almost as hot as Bradley was at 22 straight

Hi Jete!

During Bradley's streak, he was getting most of the attention while Bogaerts was quietly putting together a very solid run of his own. The youngsters and our team as a whole have been very fun to watch this season.

Hi Kimmi, yeah on the "new" BDC game thread i mentioned how Bogaerts was quietly getting it done under the radar of Bradley's run, a run that imo absolutely deserved the attention it was getting..you could even throw Betts in there...he's been coming on fast..
