And Sanchez punctuated the deal today by hitting his 7th HR and stealing his 4th base of the fall. He isn't a speedster by any means, but he isn't ploddingly slow like Montero was. This is all in 17 games btw. .306/.338/.667, I'll take it

And we don't lose a thing. Gary Sanchez is going to get the Posada treatment. This kid is the goods and is in the process of winning the MVP of the AFL right now. We basically dumped our backup catcher and made room for a better backup catcher, all the while getting a guy who is on the upswing. Hicks is either a good 4th outfielder or a guy who has the potential to be more depending on how his left handed swing takes to the Yankees park. He destroys lefties, btw, and is a switch hitter. Plus, he plays excellent D at all 3 OF slots and has a cannon

Didn't Bird win it last year too?

DBacks are asking about Miller. They've got some interesting young SP. I doubt we end up trading Miller though.

I don't want any of the s*** the DBacks have. We need an ace or at least an innings eating #2. We have plenty of young, high upside arms who are either unproven or haven't been able to stay healthy for the full season. Warren, Tanaka, Severino, Pineda, Mitchell, Eovaldi. They're all young and all have lights out stuff. Only Warren stayed in the bigs all year and didn't get hurt. Severino is likely to be on an IP limit. Eovaldi ended the yr with elbow pain. Tanaka has a tear in his elbow and missed time with a "forearm strain". Pineda had some back issues and also fell apart down the stretch. We need a reliable, 200+IP starter who is at least a 2, and preferably an ace. We have enough upside and our rotation runs 7 deep

Hicks is coming with some baggage, and probably part of the reason why the Twins traded him.

New York isn't exactly the place for a guy who has a rep for being disinterested in baseball. Might be addition by subtraction for the Twins.

I really don't know anything about Hicks, other than what I've read about him the past couple of days. However, I always find it surprising when a young player is "disinterested". It was the same way when I read that Middlebrooks said he "lost the fire". If you're a young kid with a good chance of making your life long dream of being a major league star come true, how in the heck do you become disinterested?

That said, sometimes a change of scenery does wonders.

It's said Torri Hunter really helped him out this year, grow as a person. I'm not expecting him to be a super star, but he made good progress last year and I'm interested to see how he does this year.

Yeah, I read that about Hunter. It's possible that Hicks has matured and/or that the change to a new team will be great for his attitude. Honestly, I think it's a trade that sounds good for both teams.

I'm all for Refsnyder getting the shot at 2B, but I wonder what Profar would cost from us? After getting Didi last year, it makes sense for Cashman to check in on him which he did about a week ago. What do you think he'd cost?

Pro far would cost an obscene amount. He hasn't suffered from the fizzles, he just couldn't stay healthy

obscene? he's not craig kimbrel dude.

Guardians would make a great trade partnet, imo. I'd love to add Bauer and Kaminsky for Gardner or Salazar for him. I doubt Carrasco would be traded and if he was the price would be too much.

I saw we are talking about a Castro for Gardner swamp. I hope the Cubs plan on adding in something to sweeten the pot though. The more I think about it, the more I'm for trading Gardner. I just hope its for the right price. I saw we asked for Walker from the M's. I'd love that, but understand if the M's wouldn't do that.

I like Starlin and would love to have him on the team. The thing is, Gardner is worth a lot more, especially at essentially the same monetary commitment. I still think we should package Gardner and Miller and get something really special.

Astros hell bent on getting a closer. Maybe they'd deal Appel for Miller?

I still don't understand why the Yankees or their fans would want to trade Miller.

We've got depth in the bullpen with Dellin and Wilson. We also have Warren who will likely be in the bullpen and The Strikeout Factory in Lindgren. Goody, Pazos, Rumbelow all have potential to be great 7th inning guys. We're just dealing from a position of depth when the price is sky high for these guys.

Like Meh said, we have a plethora of high velocity arms projecting out as pen guys. A lot of these guys have closer stuff as well. And we have a ready made closer already in Betances, so we'd be dealing from a position of strength. That being said, I don't want projects. I'd hate a Miller for Appel trade. We need an established innings eater atop our rotation. We have immense young talent in our rotation without any history of health. We need one starting pitcher

Which makes me think that the Yankees will be in on Price.

I think they're going to shy away from him since he'll cost 220+ million. They see how these large deals handcuff them. We just need to be smart about how we spend our money and how we make trades and who sign now.

I'd love to see what Zunino would cost from the M's though. They just sign Ianetta and figure that he's not apart of the picture anymore.

Zunino is abysmal. No need to get in front of that train wreck

He'd be worth taking a chance on if the price was low enough. Slide into the backup role and see what he can offer.

Yankees are letting teams know that Nova is available. He is one guy I wouldn't deal unless blown away. He has had 2 3+WAR seasons mashed around one below average season and 2 injury plagued years. Thing is, the guy hasn't eclipsed 170IP in a season due to lingering "forearm" and elbow pain and finally TJS, something he needed for 4 seasons. Guys aren't back to 100% until 18 months after their surgery. I think he is going to have a big year, especially since his stuff rebounded, but his command was shoddy. I would deal him only if you get the type of return you should get for a 3 WAR pitcher.

As it stands right now, our rotation is as such...

1. Tanaka

2. Severino

3. Pineda

4. Eovaldi

5. Nova

I get the idea of dealing one, especially with the Yanks linked to top notch starters and having a lot of redundancy on that back end (CC, Warren, Mitchell, etc). But dealing Nova when his value is low and expected to rebound is dumb, and Cash isn't dumb

In a strange way Nova is the Yankees Buch?

I still have a creepy feeling that The Yankees will be in on Price.

I've learned that you never count the Yankees out on anyone, no matter what they say.

They are like a predator lying in the weeds, ready to pounce when least expected.
