Not trade value. He needs to keep it up over the offseason. If he can, he's definitely part of the plan. He has big game experience. That comes in handy.

His line has almost been ace like material all month......... somewhat a little un-efficient....... maybe one inning a game......

 

I read this morning that Kelly has done this before. In 2013, he finished out the 2nd half with a 9-2 record and an ERA of 1.91. Obviously, he has the ability to pitch like an ace for stretches. The question is, why can't he do this consistently?

I think Kelly can pitch out of the bullpen, and I don't think that is an option with Buchholz. Also, will Kelly still have minor league options next season?

That is what concerns me going into next season.

 

It is a concern and a reason why building depth is so important. Dombrowski has to acquire, at minimum, a top of the rotation guy. I have no doubt that he will do that.
