Obviously that didn't happen, but it depends on what the return would have been.

 

If the Sox got something in return that made sense, that's one thing. However, trading him and selling low on him just for the sake of getting rid of him after only 4 months of a 5 year contract would be stupid, IMO. I really hate having to pay a player to play for another team.

This is why I hate the trade deadline. I hear all of these rumors and speculation. I get all worked up, either good or bad. Then nothing.

Seems like a bunch of deadlines of recent memory have fizzled.

I like Cespedes for a couple of decent (but not top 5) prospects more than I like Carlos Gomez for Zack Wheeler and Wilmer Flores.
