I remember saying here that the compact stroke he had was conducive to a lot of line drives and a good BA if he could control the strike zone a little better (remember Spud). Not glad I was right. Then again, Bogaerts is pretty good in his own right.

I'm just alarmed that someone who has been such a prolific hitter in the past has 1/4 the amount of doubles as our lead-off hitter.

His BA and OBP are waaaaaaay down, too.

Must be that "coast to coast" adjustment!

That's the thing. Iggy was expendable. I don't think the FO ever really saw him as a fulltime player of the future, and at the time of the trade, there was a lot of future depth on the left side of the infield.

In the glow of a WS victory Peavy became a Saint.

Look at his numbers that year.

I would love to have Iggy and X on the left side now.

I know Peavy's numbers were not great, but we needed the pitching help. Acquiring Peavy as a starter also allowed us to strengthen our BP. I was a big Iggy fan, so I am not trying to knock him, but I really don't think the FO saw him in the team's future plans.

While Iggy has a high BA (somewhat helped by his high BABIP), his power is nonexistent.

Nice outing from Porcello. Not that it means much this year, but the Sox are going to need him to be the pitcher they thought they were getting for next year.

The offense, OTOH, is making Verlander look like the ace of old.

Nice outing from Porcello. .

Just tuning in.

Does his line score match what really happened? This is an intriguing outing....

Touche'.

I know you that you'd like to have them both on the left side of the infield, but if you had your choice of just one for SS, would you prefer Iggy over Xander?

My money's on this going to extras.

Typically, these types of games have ended in heartbreak.

I hope that's not the case tonight.

Yes, all in all, a good outing.

Maybe the moons are aligned ......

Porcello has pitched much better with Hanigan catching him.

Pitchers are such fickle creatures.

Anyway, it was an encouraging outing.

Box score actually looks like a good outing......... 7 innings, 1 ER. His last outing was something like 5 innings and 2 runs......... but that was a struggle.....

The last two with Hanigan hasn't been terrible.........

It's pretty funny all the other teams have these tall muscle bound freaks as relievers and closers that come at you with gas............

And we have these two wild Japanese guys jumping around the mound flailing their arms and throwing junk......
