Porcello v Buehrle

It's not like the Sox could win 4 in a row, so don't bother.

Gotta keep winning. Find a way. When is the all star break? If they can find a way to creep within 4 games of the division before the break.

6 games. How did that happen?

Ben is probably fighting for his job right now... maybe that means he can will a short-sighted move this season. I am okay with that for once.

Doesn't Ortiz crush Buehrle? Porcello needs to keep the ball in the park. If he does, we roll.

He's 25/79 lifetime against Buehrle with a line of 316/357/582/939. 13 of those 25 hits have been for extra bases, 4 of them homers.

Too bad Pedroia is out, he's hit Buehrle really well too. Napoli, Bogaerts, and JBJ even have had good success against him as well, albeit in small sample sizes.

Napoli: 7/24 2 doubles 1 HR 3 BB 6 K 292/357/500/857

Bogaerts: 3/11 2 doubles 1 HR (yes all 3 hits are extra base hits) 0 BB 0 K 273/273/727/1000

I looked at some stats on fangraphs and the active right handed sox actually don't hit left handed pitching all that well, with the exception of Napoli who crushes LHP. He has a career .390 wOBA vs LHP.

I think Napoli might do something big in this game, It's a decent matchup. (.366 wOBA against LHP in 2015 alone - vs Buerhle's .328 wOBA allowed to RHB at home this season)

Any word on Hanley playing??? If so it's a great matchup for him (.442 wOBA vs LHP in away games this season HOLY s***)

If Hanigan plays it's a good matchup for him as well.

On another note, Pablo should stop switch hitting and hit left handed, he actually hits lefties BETTER from the left side, and he's absolutely terrible from the right side.

Fun fact of the day: Rick Porcello has struck out in 100% of PAs this season.

Short sighted moves would be a horrible idea. You only do that when you're a real contender. The last 3 games are fool's gold. Seriously, find something better to do with your lives. You'll just wind up disappointed.

Interesting note:

Alejandro De Aza is hitting .318/.357/.606 since joining the Red Sox with 10 XBH.

I still don't understand what the whining was about when the Sox got him, as he's a notoriously streaky guy, and plays good D.

Why didn't they get Trout?!?!? Wake up Ben!

I don't think they should make any short-sighted moves. This team needs to add pitching for the next few years not just what is left of 2014. As nice as it is to have ER, Johnson And Owens waiting in the wings, you can't work them all into the rotation at the same time. Three rookies in the rotation would mean another last place finish. They need to get a good veteran in the rotation. If they add one now, it should be with the thought of having him for another couple of seasons.

I am thinking along the lines of packaging a high ceiling guy in the low minors for an ace, preferably a controllable one, but not necessarily. Devers and Margot are nice to think about, but who knows if they actually turn into anything.

If you're looking for an "ace", it's probably going to take multiple high ceiling A-AA prospects.

Throw in a JBJ or Betts and you'll get a pitcher with one or two years of control.

The only problem with the sox starting pitching prospects who project to make an impact in the big league ( Trey Ball, E- rod, Henry Owens, Brian Johnson) is that they are all lefties.

Glad that Hanley is back in the lineup, but I am hoping that he doesn't botch things up in the field.

Exactly how I feel, it was nice to see De Aza and JBJS play good D out there, opposed to Hanleys absolute s*** D. Also, anyone know what's up with this delay? I have extra innings and it says game is delayed?

I wonder how this affects who the Red Sox will target over the next year. Hamels, Price, Kaczmir are lefties, whereas Shark, Cueto, Leake, Latos, Zimmerman, Fister are righties.

Are you serious porcello. You throw a bunch of nice cutters and sinkers and then you finish it off with a meatball?
