Pablo is a steam roller, poor Bogaerts could have gotten crushed.

Didn't Adrian Beltre do that to a couple of people when he played for us? I remember him running into one of our outfielders.

He ruined a whole season on Ellsbury wiping him out.

I don't know why. But, as it ll comes back to me I am laughing harder and harder. ;)

He leveled Ellsbury. There is a big difference between being run into by Beltre and Panda. Getting hit by Beltre is like getting hit with a cement railroad tie. Panda is more like a bean bag.

He has a way of doing that. Maybe he did that to people who touched his hair. God, I miss that guy. He was awesome.

Crazy how that one play changed the history of the Sox so much....

I was just looking at Ells stats the other day. The year he came back he was a beast.

There will be nothing that changes my mind, so I'm giving you my first half of the season all star vote......

Holt in the super sub role. Personally I think he has had the most positive impact in the season and is a utility player. He can sub in a position and possibly outplay that person.

With some of the question marks we had for players this year, Holt was much needed. I would bet that if Farrell really thought about it, he would vote for Holt also.

Sox have to sweep this series. Find a

way. They are still in this but they have to keep winning

It's not out of the question with Buehrle starting tomorrow, the Sox have plenty of right handed bats to go after him with. The only problem is we have Porcello starting, and all in all Buehrle isn't bad. He is probably the BJ's best starter right now.

Hitting slumps from time to time. The pitching certainly didn't pick them up in May, not even occasionally. The fact is that the team is still dead last in league ERA. The OBP for the hitting is in the top half of the league and better than league average.

Edit: If people want to keep blaming the hitting when the pitching is rock bottom dead last, you are entitled to your opinion, but this team will go nowhere this season or next season until they get some talent in the rotation.

It's not. Try to keep up...

Here is the thing about blaming the pitching (which is not last when you look at advanced metrics) ... the idea we were expecting was that this team would lose its share of slo-pitch softball scores because its pitching might stink. But THAT HAS LARGELY NOT HAPPENED because the hitting has largely not been able to get into slugfests. I would be more inclined to blame the pitching if the former were actually happening.

All Stars?

Xander Bogaerts is 2nd in SS fWAR to date. He'd be a fine choice, although Carlos Correa in just 22 games has made an amazing charge

Pedroia has had a really nice bounceback season (at least at the plate)

Mookie Betts could be in the mix, although CF is pretty stacked

There are way way way way too many reliever on All-Star rosters in general, but given that both Uehara and Tazawa deserve looks too.

My guess would be Pedroia

Yup, the pitching staff had it's share of implosions in April and May. But, as you said, the Sox were never in those games, due to a sputtering offense.

As the pitching improved, the offense (and defense, for that matter) stagnated and they started started losing close, well pitched games as well.

Look at Buchholz's record in May. He had a 3.31 ERA w/ a 1.10 WHIP

He was 1-3 that month.
