Victorino has always murdered left handed pitching. He has a lot of trouble with righties, which is why platooning him with Bradley is a good idea.

There may be an open seat for Kelly next to Masterson on the bus leaving town.

 

Yeah, there's only so many scoreless innings a guy can throw before you just say "ugh, enough with this".

 

Seriously though, he struggled for one inning but got out of it, and in the other innings he's breezed. He's at 60 pitches through five, and he's shaved almost a full run off of his ERA in just this one start. I'd consider this pretty good. I think we all knew he wasn't a 6 ERA guy, and I'm pretty sure we all also know that it's still early enough in the season that you can knock a run off of your ERA with a single good start.

it is the 2 suck ass starts that he sandwiches around a start like tonight that are the problem. I don't really see him leaving town, but I could see him moved to the pen. As a starter, he has a very hard time getting to the 6th inning. Tonight he is having a good outing, but he has never been remotely consistent.

Good stuff.

 

Until he strains his hammy again.

 

We need to remember tonight when he looks helpless against right handed pitching.

Kelly has pitched very well tonight. If he could pitch like this just half the time, that would be all that we could ask of him.

 

Yup, I agree.

 

But the FO built this rotation on "IFs".
