My taste in dinning is much better than my ability to spell!!!! Yes. Like a Poncho.

jajaja it's oks Spud, it happens to me all the time when I'm writing here in english LOL. Let me know if you plan to come down to Mexico City, here we have very nice places for all budgets to eat great mexican food. There is a place here named Porfirio's, their offer is gourmet mexican food. It is a very nice place and I have understood that they just opened a restaurant in Miami. I really recommend this place if somebody want to taste great gourmet mexican food, with a couple of great tequilas or mezcales. http://www.porfirios.com.mx

Being of Italian descent, I'm proud to be a Dago, too.

Glad to hear it Bo 11. The fact is Italians who came to this country came with nothing but the shirts on their backs, if that, and were poorer than church mouses, not to mention they were made fun of and given the slack ends of the dirtiest jobs. Yet they made it in this country and now are among the most loyal of Americans. I do feel a little jealous of my Irish buddies. They had it wired better........take some crap for a few decades and then become cops and priests. They made it a little faster. Either way, I do get pissed off when some lazy bastards today want the govt to give them everything like those Wall Street strikers a few years ago.

I had to stop the talk of food my friends and change the topic just a little and I was getting hungry again. To wit, my lunch today was a piece of cod and a piece of tilapia and nice side of spaghetti. To me that's eating.

Gringo, I've had a round or two with that guy but I am convinced he did not mean what he said. Give him a week or two to cool off and he'll be back on board with the rest of us.

Eh, Im still pissed off. Obviously I want them to do well. I am not a fan of that ownership group, not when they sell their souls to make a buck and suck every cent out of the fanbase......and yes, I understand what they have accomplished. I just wish it weren't such a cartoon show.

I figured as much, I was just trying to guilt trip him back into the fold ; )

I am still going to push for the Cubs. Nothing wrong with rooting for an NL team so long as they don't meet in the WS.

Jumping ship? Well don't let the door hit you on the way out. Seriously.

You're spoiled rotten and you don't even realize it.

The Red Sox won WS championships in 2004, 2007, and 2013. All of this after a nearly 80+ year drought after selling the Bambino.

You have no idea how lucky you are/were to be a Red Sox fan.

Management is temporary. Theo came and went. Cherington and Farrell etc. won't be here forever.

But they caught lightning in a bottle in 2013. There is no way we should have won coming off last place the year previous.

But they did it. The level of ingratitude here for the magic of 2013 is amazing. The offseason isn't even done and people are already writing off the 2015 Red Sox.

Ok good luck with that. Go ahead be a hater. Change the laundry that you root for. I won't. I don't like fair weather fans and I don't care who else you choose to root for. GOOD BYE. CYA. DON'T COME BACK!

f*** you. Clown. Oh yeah, Im sure you suffered through those awful years in the 20's and 30's after they sold Babe Ruth right? Don't tell me Im lucky to be a fan. That's the problem with 50 year old virgin sports fans who wear Redsox footie pajamas. Lucky to be a fan? Its my f***ing money. It's the other way around, the Redsox are lucky to have such a solid fan base. Without the fans paying 15 dollars for a beer and 150 dollars for coffee table books, that outfit goes down the shitter real quick.

I think its 7.25 for s***** beer, and like 8.50 for import.

Still, you do get raped for everything from parking to peanuts when going to Fenway. So your point is well stated if slightly embellished for emphasis.

In all fairness, the parking isn't the Red Sox's fault.

Maybe not and I did not mean to say that it was.

HOWEVER!!!!! If the Sox ownership had the balls to put up a new ballpark like most modern American cities bigger than Yazoo then maybe there would be cheaper ancillary lots and garages????

And they had the foresight or greed to purchase the air rights to over the Pike extension. They could easily build there or even swallow up the lots on Brookline Ave. and offer cheaper parking prices. Of course this would be an awful lot ( pun ) to ask of those greedy dicks. They do not care about making the Fenway experience affordable for the common fan.

I am responding to this thread although I have not read much of it. What is a fan? Is it someone who switches from team to team depending on the current situation? I don't think so.

I have been a Red Sox fan from the early 1960s. There were some bad teams in the early days...but they were my team. The 1967 season was so sweet because of the bad years. The championship of 2004 was such a blessing because my family and friends had been loyal and endured through the incredibly long wait.

Jumping to the Cubs at this point is sad. They have fans who have endured through the tough times. They are true and loyal fans. They will not share an endured pain with you if they win.

8 usd a beer? Geez! Seems like my trip to Boston will cost me more than I thought LOL!

Well they better land an ace, and make my trip to Boston worth. Haha

I can try to go at this from a different perspective Spitball. First I insist that SCM did not mean what he said a little while back. He's pissed and rightly so at what has gone on this off season, but if he believes that Red Sox fans can switch teams I think he will be honest with himself and say they can't. Sure, they can have an NL team they follow but at best it is a 90-10 proposition and that is giving away some points. I have been on board only since 2000 but all the gold in the world couldn't get me to junk the Red Sox and I don't think it can you, him or anyone else. I'm actually a little envious that it took me so long to find this team, but now I live and die with them and walk the damn floor at night when they lose.

One place where I think we should all agree is that Larry Lucchino is a total ******* and detrimental to the well being of our team when he sticks his nose in baseball operations instead of staying in his damn office and do his job of promotions, sales, public relations and whatever else is in his job description. It sure as hell isn't BO. To me he's a total washout in that regard. I suggested we delete this thread because some feelings have been ruffled, not to mention my making a fool of myself by over-reacting to what was a minor insult at best. MVP brought up a terrific point yesterday and hit home with me as it should have months ago. We're all Red Sox fans and we're all in this together. Let's disagree where we need to but try and be civil about it.

Eat well before the game then!!!! Everything at Fenway is very expensive compared to street costs. Although you should probably just eat at the park to be able to "enjoy the Fenway Experience".

Dang, I missed a lot on this thread...!

Re: North End - most amazing sight for me, as someone who went to school in Boston, lived there for 5 years afterwards then left - going back, standing at the foot of Hanover St and turing around and seeing the skyline, not the Central Artery..... What a change. Oh, and I got engaged at Felicia's...

I, too, am of Italian descent, on my Dad's side - his parents came over in the early 1900's. OTOH, I am a WASP on my Mom's side, her ancestors having come over on the Mayflower (William White is my ancestor there).

I hate Larry Lucchino.

I've always been kind of partial to the Cubbies on the NL side, more so prior to 2004. Lately I've favored the Mets.

We used to go to a Mexican restaurant in Brighton called the El Phoenix Room, on Comm Ave. It closed a few years ago. Great food and buckets of Rolling Rock on ice. Love good, authentic Mexican food. I was in Mexico City in 200 and ate very well.

I married a WASP----for some reason WASPS and Dagos make a great combination in matrimony, and you have to give my lady full credit because she has put up with my strange personality for 44 years. As for the Cubs, I mentioned yesterday that I took trips to Boston and Chicago t his past season and two seasons in a row before that. Yes, I watch the Cubs on WGN and pretty much like them better than any other NL team, but if push came to shove no Red Sox fan would root for them over our team, no way. Speaking of those two clubs, it would be a boon for baseball if Boston and Chicago met in a WS. I think it would be a really solid shot in the arm for the game. The last time they met? 1918---no longer a indictment of our team.

The El Phoenix was outstanding Tex-Mex. Back in the mid to late 70's my friends and I would go there every payday for dinner. The Cheese and Pepper Nachos were great. Not very Mexican being made of Land O Lakes white American cheese and peperocini peppers but they were very tasty dipped in the hot sauce ( almost entirely composed of crushed red peppers ). You are correct. Bottled Rolling Rock ice cold seemed to be the house drink at least when eating food. The Chilli Cheese Enchiladas were my first taste of good Tex-Mex and to this day remain my standard for it's ilk.

The atmosphere was very casual. The upper room was the dinning room. It was usually very noisy with patrons talking very loudly about all sorts of stuff and of course the Juke Box which was controlled by selections at each table. I think I must have heard Lola ( Kinks ), Wild Side ( Lou Reed ), and Sympathy For The Devil ( Stones ) hundred of times while dining there.

It was great stoner food and atmosphere. Of course Parking was a hassle on Com Ave.!

I really miss that place.

Three championships in ten years. I'll take that every day. As much as I wanted Lester back, we all know these huge long term contracts never work out. Even with Lester the Cubs' kids are not ready to win yet. I could see where when they are ready to dominate the National League Lester will no longer be their ace. I think the changes the Sox have made this winter and that no team in the AL East is looking dominate they should be able to compete for a spot in the playoffs.
