I can assure all of you that I have not given this much if any coherent or rational thought and I can guarantee you that I will not waste any time attempting to substantiate anything I say with stats or historical facts!

"That said":

Baltimore over Washington in 6.

Why Washington in the World Series? Why not? I'm not a big fan of the NL so I really don't have any idea who is the best team. I will say these things, however.

The Expos have been crap since the shortened season took away their best chance at glory. Go Nats!

I can't stand any team from Los Angeles because I hate most things associated with LA. The Dodgers have spent a ton of money and therefore deserve my disdain even more.

I can't stand the Cards either. Mostly because of their obnoxious, self righteous fans ( with the exception of our Carter, of course! ). I see the Cards as the baseball equivalent of the Kelly era Buffalo Bills. Close but no cigar!

Why the O's? Simple. I'm an AL East guy. It the Sox and Yankees are out of it I will support the team from my division that prevails especially since I was a big Earl Weaver / O's fan while the Sox toiled in mediocrity. Aslo, I would like Dan Duquette to get some well deserved vindication and glory. He's a M******* that has a true and undying passion for the game and it's about time for him to get some credit for his efforts.

I know very little about the Nats. I think that a "Beltway Series" would be a good story and some fun. Plus I hate staying up late at night to watch Left Coast games so to hell with the Giants.

There you have it! Complete nonsense from a big baseball fan who just does not give a crap about who wins the "crapshoot".

One more thing. As long as I am making no sense I will offer this. Alternatively it would be nice to see the Royals pound the crap out of the Cards. That would inflict huge misery on the Cards fans! And I kind of like the idea of the Royals going all the way. I like that Fountain and the Royals have been crap for too long.

GO O's!!11!11

Oy ve! You have no idea how true that is! I hate even playing KC in ST games.

I thought about the prospect of Pirates/Royals WS too. What a ratings disaster that would be!

BTW, great post Spudder.

My heart's with the O's for reason very similar to Spudboy's; I also loved Brooksy and Boogs - great ballplayers with personalities to boot. That said:

AL

A's over Royals.....Lestah!

Tigers over O's.....it seems every postseason Detroit's big bats don't hit and the 6-9 hitters are nonexistent offensively; this year it reverses - Detroit's post-season experience overcomes the O's lack of it. If Detroit can hit and get anything out of their pen, they're the team to beat....the team is built for the playoffs....if the 'pen performs, they win the WS.

Angels over A's.....the A's have sucked over the second half, and the Angels have been one of the best in MLB - Lester will get the A's in but can't pitch every night.

Tigers over Angels.....should be a fun one - if the 'pen holds, the Tigers win.

NL....really don't know too much about the NL, but:

Pirates over Giants.....they're hot - the winner of this series goes all the way to the WS

Pirates over Nats....they're hot

Dodgers over Cards....going to be a good one with both teams pushing each other until one prevails but is too spent to take on the Pirates. In the end, I'll give it to Matheny over Mattingly.

Pirates over Cards....they're hot

Tigers over Pirates in 5.

Just as long as the greedy money bag Dodgers once again don't get into the World Series I'm fine with who gets in. Truth be told, I would love to see a Chesapeake Bay WS between the Orioles and Nationals. The games would start early out here in California and not too late for you Easterners. Besides, I would love to hear all those lame excuses Dodger fans, media and the press use when they get their lunch eaten. My wife is an Angels fan so I hope they do get to the ALCS but not at the expense of the Orioles.

Giants-Athletics for the All Bay Area II Series (these teams also met a couple of times as NY and Philly)

Orioles-Nationals for the All Beltway Series

Tigers-Pirates for the All-Rust Belt Series (last time these two teams met in the Series was 1909, Cobb vs Wagner)

Pirates-Orioles for Round 3 (Bucs won rounds 1 and 2 in '71 and '79)

Cards-Orioles for a rematch of the 1944 Streetcar Series, only the Browns are now Baltimore

FWI In over 100 years of baseball for the Dodgers and Tigers, including quite a few pennants between them, there has never been a Dodger/Tiger World Series

I didn't know that Lester was going for Oaktown, but I'm sticking with KC

I'm with Fred on that, and I'll add the Los Angeles Angels of Fort Knox. An all LA WS is my least favorite scenario. I wouldn't watch a single inning.

Ratings were near zero. That's all MLB cares about. A Pittsburgh-KC Series would be a nightmare for MLB. LOL!! Therefore, I am rooting for that.

It is a big problem if baseball fans don't watch quality baseball for the purpose of watching quality baseball. That is the problem the MLB needs to solve, instead of giving big markets advantages to get them into the playoffs. Soccer and football don't have that problem -- people watch any team at any time.

A Shields-Lester matchup in an elimination game for two teams absolutely desperate for a championship. If the ratings were low for this one, the MLB is at fault here, not the teams involved.

Well St. Louis Carter, your team can do something about it.....again, even though your guys aren't hitting as well this year.....JUST BEAT THE @#$%^&* DODGERS this time around as well. I'm getting sick of reading in the papers and watching on the tube this sickening lover affair that these bastard front running fans out here are bleeding for the damn Dodgers. Don't let them advance....stop them cold. Keep them out of the WS at all costs. BTW, just in case you aren't aware of it, when I came back from the WS last October there wasn't one Dodger fans I met that wasn't rooting for my Red Sox in the World Series. Not one!!!!! They all wanted us to win, or better yet, wanted your guys to lose. I was gratified at the time but came to realize it wasn't any love for the Red Sox that propelled their attitude but their sickening jealousy that they had that the Cards made it from the NL and not them.

Agreed. MLB has a culture issue. The PED scandal and continued probes into star players has lost the casual fan, IMO. The reason behind that? Well, when offense is up, people watch. The die hard may love a 1-0 well pitched and defended game, but the casual fan wants to see balls fly out of the yard. Baseball has always been regional as well. A Yankee fan who is disappointed in this season might rather watch NCIS or something like that than watch a baseball game that has no impact on your team. But if the Yankees are in it? The ratings skyrocket. I understand Selig wanting to get the lower market teams into the playoffs and on level ground, but in doing so, he is cutting off the revenue stream. Everyone watches the big bad wolf in the playoffs. Last yr it was Boston. The years before, it was the Yankees. This yr, who is it, LA? Nobody on the east coast gives a s*** about a team that hasn't won in 26 yrs, no matter how much they spend. I think baseball is better when every team has a chance. I think the owners enjoy it more when the big boys are there in the playoffs. We'll see who wins out in the end

Well, just for fun I'll go with the big money and the big stars this year. Angels over Dodgers in WS.
Brother, there's no way in hell that the Angels make it all the way. KC might take 'em out before they get to the Orioles. But I would like to see an interstate game.

Quite honestly, I only made that pick for fun. I have no real investment in the playoffs this year, without the Red Sox to root for and no need to stick pins in Yankee dolls.

The playoffs are off to a great start though.

I might end up hoping for the Orioles. Showalter is really impressing me this year.

Meanwhile, Ned Yost is a lunatic! Two games in a row he makes wacky decisions on when to take out the starter, and he gets away with them both.

That's no s***! The KC writers and fans went crazy on the guy after the first game. They better win the Pennant or his ass is grass.

But last night cooled them down a bit. From the KC Star:

" The Royals rose up and beat the Los Angeles Angels 3-2 in 11 innings in the first game of the American League Division Series.

So much for #yosted.

That’s the hashtag so many angry Royals fans have used in bashing Yost on Twitter during the 2014 season and even during the Wild Card game on Tuesday, in which the Royals came back in dramatic fashion to beat the Oakland Athletics, 9-8, in 12 innings.

But on Thursday, it was the Royals’ sputtering offense that forced the game into extra innings, not any bad managing by Yost".

What he did last night was just as bizarre. Two on and two out in the 6th with Kendrick up. He gets his right-handed reliever to warm up, then visits the mound, and...leaves Escobar in!

So he took his ace Shields out in almost the identical situation, but he leaves Escobar in. Kendrick naturally hits a rocket to right, which Aoki catches to save Yost's ass again.
