  1. Spud, I believe 90% of the players are on something until they get the BIG contract...I know that I would be! Fame and riches trumps all; even long term health issues.
  2. I tell you, for 2 years he was a dangerous hitter. But he couldn't crack the lineup. Because Tony Larussa gave the LF job to Dave Duncan's son. When he finally got the job he batted over .400 with RISP those next 2 yrs. I'd been thinking for a while that he might be a juicer. Would explain a lot. Anyway, I hope the guy busts out this spring.
  3. Nobody watching vs. the Mets on MLB? I tuned in to see Tebo take some swings at DL but am pleased to see Allen Craig getting another shot. He spanked a dbl According to the talking heads it's gonna be a Red Sox/Cubs World Series....afraid I must agree.
  4. He's not all that fat now (taken on Thursday) click to enlarge
  5. Let me be more specific about his early innings: he would VERY often get 2 or 3 men on base and then shut down the threat with K's. It was maddening...like he didn't use his best stuff 'till he had to. Consequently he would be nearing 80 to 90 in the 5th inning! However, in the games where the pitch count was low he would sail through the 5th inning on, looking fantastic. I have to wonder if he and Molina couldn't get on the same page. There were many visits to the mound. The guy has STUFF, but something seems to be keeping him from breaking out. But even as he is, he's a tip-top 4th starter, and a decent 3rd.
  6. After watching Kelly's starts for years with the Cards I noted that he was rarely used properly. He would very often dominate for the first 4 innings and then get touched up in the 5th, indicating that the third time through the lineup was a charm for the opposition. Functional idiot, Mike Matheny repeatedly left him in the game time after time until it was too late. Even when the pen had not pitched for days he was still scared shitless to bring in middle relief. Of course, JK once every 5 or so starts would go deep into a game looking great. I don't know if MM was gambling on Joe repeating this, or as a "players manager" wanted Kelly to get the W, but it doesn't matter. My point is that used properly Kelly could be a huge asset. He's an effective 5 inning guy....after that, you're gambling.
  7. You better believe it, Man! You guys just sent a double barreled salvo across their bow. My Yankee fan buddy is foaming at the mouth right now!
  8. If I was asked which two players I could send to the AL, HanRam and Panda would be the ones. In terms of the future, I think Sandoval's physique is a double edged sword: a few years back he came to ST slim and trim, and he could not hit worth s***! He was like a different player. He's a Tony Gwynn clone with power and a fantastic glove. The other side of the sword is, of course, that as he ages his fat ass will do a job on his joints and his value will plummet, but for a few years he's worth whatever he's paid, ESPECIALLY in the post season. Good luck landing him.
  9. I don't know what the f*** you guys are worried about with HanRam. If ever there was a man I would like to take a bead on with a high powered rifle when he steps to the plate it's that man! I swear, I never saw the guy strike out. All he does is murder NL pitching. As to his hustle: he does it! (now) It IS true, however, that he's as fragile as Derrick Rose's grammy, so he must be used wisely. I'm glad to wave bye-bye to the guy!
  10. Yup...tough break for he AND the Cards. Now they've acquired RF'er Jason Heyward from the Pirates for #3 starter Shelby Miller, who took JOE KELLY'S spot! We lost 2 good starters now!!! It turns out that Taveres was drunk off his ass, with a blood alcohol level FIVE times the legal limit when he slammed into a tree. His girlfriend was killed as well. BTW, the Cards are making a move to sign Lester now. (one season too late)
  11. LOL...if I ran the Yanks I would just give him his flat out release....just eat the cash and send the f***er packing for Japan.
  12. Ever since the Biogenesis scandal broke and then yielded myriad suspensions in the summer of 2013 -- including a 211-gamer to Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez -- A-Rod has done nothing but vehemently deny the charges publicly. It appears he sang a different tune when facing DEA agents' questioning in private, per a report in the Miami Herald. 13. OT and girlfriend killed in a car crash in the Dominican. He was the #3 rated rookie in the ML. He homered for his 1st ML hit in his first game, and his last ever hit was a game tying homer in the NLCS. He was 22.
  14. You would deal Cespedes? I thought he was tearing the cover off the ball.
  15. Insiders report that the Dodgers have Puig on the trade block. Very believable as his LA stock has plummeted....even benched in the final NLDS game. The Cards are choked with outfielders, but how about Boston? You guys interested?
  16. Me too. Knocking out the Angels the way they did was something else!
  17. AJ Pierzinski and John Lacky loom large right now for the Cardinals. Wainwright is toast. He's being hammered just like last year in the Sox WS. Molina strained an oblique last night and is probably out for the season. Many were surprised that AJ was kept on the roster. The Cards never use 3 catchers in the post. Now the LHBer will see more action than back-up Tony Cruz. Closer Rosenthal is as bad as Waino lately, so our Ace, our team MVP and closer are toast. But Lacky was very effective in his last few starts, while AJ languished on the bench after Yadi's return. Now we're gonna have to rely on those two to get us past a very tough Giants team. BTW, Peavy was lights out last nite for SF, but the pen blew the game. If AJ can somehow fill Molina's big cleats and we go all the way, he will enjoy free lunch in St. Louis for f***ing life! All that being said...we're most likely in the shithouse.
  18. Lackey pitched well tonite, 1 ER in 7 IP. The mighty bucks Dodgers face elimination tomorrow.
  19. They pulled it out in extra's again. Team of f***ing destiny. Natinals beware. BTW, all cross state teams still in it, but the cross CITY of LA and LAA is shakey.
  20. They retaliated...by batting the s*** out of Wainwright! The LA crowd booed him on the way to the showers...they shudda cheered his f***ing ass!!
  21. Oh s***! Waino drilled Puig, and then Gonzales and Molina tried to get at each other, near bru ha ha. The Dodgers are pissed. (We drilled Matt Kemp in the 1st) And of course last year H Ramirez had his ribs cracked in game 1 of the NLCS ...will they ever retaliate?
  22. Umm...I concur. I hate that we will probably the first team to lose to a home team in these playoffs. But the way it's been going, it may not be a boring assed pitching duel, but a slugfest! Oh wait.....we can't have a slugfest with the Dodgers!!!
  23. Another good game. Not as good as KC on Tuesday, but I'll take it. Peavey is out dealing Mr. No-No Strasberg in the SF/DC game. 3 years the guy has been waiting to get in the playoffs, and they're hitting his ass hard.
  24. Oh yeah...THAT catch!
