I like the results so far.

Except that the Pirates got bumped. Too bad. I liked watching McCutchin play.

Agreed, they continue to take "baby steps". They would not have made the post season at all if the Reds had not had a plethora of injuries, too numerous to mention.

What he did last night was just as bizarre. Two on and two out in the 6th with Kendrick up. He gets his right-handed reliever to warm up, then visits the mound, and...leaves Escobar in!

So he took his ace Shields out in almost the identical situation, but he leaves Escobar in. Kendrick naturally hits a rocket to right, which Aoki catches to save Yost's ass again.

Oh yeah...THAT catch!

I wonder if the Pirates will continue to take "baby steps" forward or if they will fade back to also ran status.

They stand a good chance to loose Russell in free agency. I'm not very knowledgeable about the rest of their roster but loosing Russell could be big.

Yes. For some reason I forgot to type his last name twice. I keep reading how much he has meant to the resurgence of the Pirates. I also read that he will likely get a 3 year deal that is too rich for the Pirates.

And no, I do not want the Sox to sign Martin!

Another good game. Not as good as KC on Tuesday, but I'll take it. Peavey is out dealing Mr. No-No Strasberg in the SF/DC game. 3 years the guy has been waiting to get in the playoffs, and they're hitting his ass hard.

Peavey looked good for 5 innings.

I never saw him pitch this well when he was with the Sox. At least I can not remember seeing him pitch this well.

If one team from California has to advance I guess that it may as well be the Giants!

Umm...I concur. I hate that we will probably the first team to lose to a home team in these playoffs. But the way it's been going, it may not be a boring assed pitching duel, but a slugfest! Oh wait.....we can't have a slugfest with the Dodgers!!! :(

Oh s***! Waino drilled Puig, and then Gonzales and Molina tried to get at each other, near bru ha ha. The Dodgers are pissed. (We drilled Matt Kemp in the 1st)

And of course last year H Ramirez had his ribs cracked in game 1 of the NLCS ...will they ever retaliate?

Kershaw hasn't exactly established himself as a big game pitcher. No starter has ever had back to back post season starts with 7 earned runs. He is the anti- Schilling.

Plus, the Cards have a weak offense.

I would love to see the royals in the ALCS.Those fans have had nothing to cheer for in awhile
They pulled it out in extra's again. Team of f***ing destiny. Natinals beware.

BTW, all cross state teams still in it, but the cross CITY of LA and LAA is shakey. :)

Carter, see if you can take down the Dodgers again tonight. That was quite a comeback by your boys last night, especially against the best pitcher on the planet. Everyone knows I can't stand the Dodgers but if anyone downloaded the LA Times this morning you would see that they actually accused Kershaw of choking big time. Very classless on their part. Wainright got nailed too. Both teams seemed to have their hitting shoes on and pitchers aren't machines......they can go south any time and last night was one of them. See that's what I despise about the fans and supporters of the Dodgers. They are a rotten bunch of front runners and as soon as something go against them they are quick to point fingers.

As for the Angels, few may disagree with me but I have said repeatedly that the type of team the Angels put together is not the kind of team Scioscia likes to manage. He can't run, bunt, hit and run the way his teams did five or six years ago. They are built to slug it out and they might get hot in KC and start doing that, but I think most people know that in the Playoffs it is pitching, defense, a good bullpen and timely hitting in that order that usually settles the hash.

I suppose that many people assume that the teams with the best record would be the best team. In my senior year of high school I learned that the best team does not always win.

In a best of five series anything can happen.

The playoffs are indeed a crapshoot.

AJ Pierzinski and John Lacky loom large right now for the Cardinals. Wainwright is toast. He's being hammered just like last year in the Sox WS. Molina strained an oblique last night and is probably out for the season. Many were surprised that AJ was kept on the roster. The Cards never use 3 catchers in the post. Now the LHBer will see more action than back-up Tony Cruz.

Closer Rosenthal is as bad as Waino lately, so our Ace, our team MVP and closer are toast. But Lacky was very effective in his last few starts, while AJ languished on the bench after Yadi's return. Now we're gonna have to rely on those two to get us past a very tough Giants team.

BTW, Peavy was lights out last nite for SF, but the pen blew the game. If AJ can somehow fill Molina's big cleats and we go all the way, he will enjoy free lunch in St. Louis for f***ing life!

All that being said...we're most likely in the shithouse. :(

KC seems to have a little luck on their side despite some questionable decisions by their manager. It has been speed, the bullpen and some timely hitting. I would like to see them win.
Me too. Knocking out the Angels the way they did was something else!
