I didn't think papi would have had a chance at getting to 500 hrs next year since he needed to hit 69 in two years. I thought his average was going to be around 280 this year with high 20's hr but he continues to amaze as he has actually had mor pop than last year.

Workman is not a starter.

I don't know why they expanded the staff to 6 just to fit him in. I want to see the guys who are actually fighting for a spot next year get as many starts as possible.

His splitter has turned to s***. Koji is blowing saves left and right now. If it is indeed the end of his run, I'm ok with it. He had a magical year the first half this year and last year.

And it just goes to prove how difficult it is to be an excellent closer year after year. Koji has turned into a pumpkin.

Good point. Since that angels series at fenway, its been a sharp decline.

When the Sox signed Koji in 2013, he never was expected to pitch so many games, much less closing. A year+ later, him and Tazawa are tied for most games pitched since 2013. I think Koji is still a good reliever, but can't be trusted anymore. It's age catching up with him.

Koji is done. Well it was great while it last.
Papelbon remains excellent-- having a better season that Koji. I'm not looking for an argument about the worth of his contract, but the facts and stats are the facts and stats. Papelbon does the job every year with a couple of minor clunkers. That year in and year out consistency is a huge plus for a team. The Yankees road Mo;s consistency for almost 20 years of playoff baseball. Without him, playoff appearances will be somewhat sporadic. We got very lucky to have Uehara during his one dream season.

It's hard to get by year after year with 88 mph heat.

For Koji, location and driving the splitter down. He isn't able to do that at this point. he has a dead arm. I'd still bring him back for next year, though we need a different closer.

I agree with you completely. We shouldn't trash him yet but we have to have a different one

Koji has been overworked and he is running of fumes. After what he did for us last season you will never hear me utter one negative word about the guy. Too bad we didn't score more runs in the game and in the ninth inning where Farrell's miserable managing cost us a chance to add to our lead. If this guy pulls another 2014 next season we must get a new manager. I cannot believe how inept and wrong he has been on all fronts this season. As much of a critic as I was with Francona I cannot remember any season he managed the Red Sox that he f***ed up continuously from beginning to e nd. Francona screwed up games and series here and there but this guy has been s*** warmed over from that opening home series back in April.

Some went too fast trying to compare their careers. As I said before, there's nothing to compare about.

The sox should just shut him down. I'm sure he is tired and an extra month off wouldn't hurt him.
He's a free agent at the end of the season. His agent will not let them shut him down. He wants to build stats to get a bigger contract.

Love that the Yankees won. BTW, this is Crespo. YOTN, sorry for what I did. I was a 20 year old dumb f*** at the time.
Wow. LOL!! Okay so you are older. The jury is still out on the dumb f*** thing.:D;) How long ago were you banned?

Fred, what did Farrell do wrong in the ninth? He got Bogaerts to sacrifice, successfully, and he pinch hit Nava for Middlebrooks. Where exactly did Farrell cost us there?
