What's with the hate on Pedroia?

Jesus christ , this is the first season he's not doing so well and he could still turn it around before the season is over.

Even the greats have bad years.

Agreed, though combining it with last years power drought, there may be a trend. Having said that, even if his hand and wrist are still bothering him, hes got alot of moxie and still gets the job done.

Pedroia is going to get some hate because of the big contract.

Still, I find it hard to argue with the 2.4 WAR in 100 games of an off year.

Yeah, he probably only needs to average a WAR of 3 or so to be worth that contract.

Well with that contract u want his batting avg to be around 300.He is having a down year and I would be concerned a little.

Batting average is not everything.

Batting average is not everything.

Heres a couple of stats that are telling. Hes #1 in both doubles and runs. That means he not only is instantly in scoring position but avoids the double play too. This is probably a direct reason why hes also tops in runs scored. Hes also second in RBI's.

Pedroia's worst season OPS wise is 787. I'll take that every year with his defense.
sure that is great for a second baseman, but not for a number 3 or cleanup hitter.

I'm curious as to why an injured hand has made him slower. Seriously, what's up with his stolen bases this year.

It's just age that is getting to Pedroia.

JD---I might be able to shed a little light on that. I think that when we lost Ellsbury to the Yankees and Victorino got banged up, Farrell pretty much shitcanned the running game. Now we don try to steal because we're short on speed, we also don't hit and run, squeeze or even move runners. We are back to being a station-to-station ball club that doesn't have the hitting and power to make such a system work. I also heard they didn't stress that at all in ST this past March.
