JBJ is really struggling at the plate. I don't know how you take that pitch.

Edit: Also this is beneficial in two ways. Tied game and my opponent has Perkins on his fantasy team. lol

Ted, the question is why did Farrell once again bring in Miller when he is inept in these kind of situations---or did already forget Tuesday evening? Another thing.....let's see one of our stats whizzes check this one out......How many times have we "come from behind to TIE the game", not go ahead mind you, but TIE only to lose the game later? I've counted about a half dozen times. Until we can come back and get a lead going into the last inning this kind of inept s*** will keep happening. Let me add an addendum to what d-money said...f*** BOTH MILLER AND BUCHHOLZ!!!!!

If among WMB, Jr. , and Bogey, 2 of the 3 start to contribute offensively before the end of May, but the 3rd guy doesn't, do we stick with all 3 the rest of the way? You can tolerate light production from the more demanding defensive positions, but if WMB is the laggard, you should make a move. You can't have an offensive black hole at a position where you should have a power stick.

There's just so much frustration when you're a baseball fan. I mean, even at the best of times you have to absorb 60+ losses a year. We've already lost 20 times and it's May 15. This s*** will drive you to alcohol and insanity if you let it. I think we come here for therapy a lot of the time. I do anyway.

One of the more frustrating aspects of this season so far, among a whole list of frustrations, is that irritating thing we've become proficient at......tieing the game up and then losing it. I think we've done that about a half-dozen times so far this season. When we start coming back in games and TAKE THE LEAD and not have to lose another game in extra innings, then we might be on our way to something besides abject mediocrity. I keep asking myself just when the hell are we going to go on a good run and win a bunch of games in a row.

Victorino has a knee injury. This was disclosed after the game. There are no details on severity. He is one of the indispensable pieces to this team's success.

Couple things:

1. Why on earth did Miller throw a 3-2 fastball to Aaron Hicks with 1B open and 2 outs in a tie game in extras?? It made no sense. His slider is absolutely filthy. Hicks would have had no shot at it. Very poor pitch selection (although all reports are that David Ross had to talk him into throwing it).

2. That we're 20-20 at the .500 point really should not be a surprise. This is going to be a 2nd half team, all the way. With the amount of young players we have at key positions right now, it's going to take them about 1/2 of the season to get settled in and find their stride. I fully expect this team to be about 4-6 games over .500 by the ASB, about 3-4 games out of 1st place, and then turn it on in the second half and end the season with 93-95 wins.

Also really see this being the season that the Sox make a blockbuster move. Could they trade for Cliff Lee, let Lester walk, and give the young pitchers an extra 1-2 seasons of a veteran ace (Lee has 1 year left plus an option) to buffer their entrance into the bigs? Certainly could be an option. Lee - Lester - Lackey would be a pretty nasty top 3 in any series.

Hey a700 - Change your sig dude!! Salty isn't even on the Sox!
I haven't changed this signature, because I am superstitious. We did win a world championship while I was using. Crazy? Yes, superstition is crazy stuff.

1. No point asking. Baseball players do a lot of stupid things.

2. Nice optimism, but what if WMB and JBJ are dancing with Mendoza all year and/or we have one or more key guys like Victorino go on the shelf? Our depth this year just don't seem very deep.

I would be surprised if they made a deal for a big name. I don't see the FO f having the appetite to trade highly touted prospects the year after winning the championship. That could change if this team continues to play uninspiring ball. Being a .500 team is one thing, but this team is a bit boring too. Don't get me wrong. I am not bored at all, but they are just not generating much interest among the broader fanbase. If that translates to decreased revenue, they might look for a splashy move. I am not expecting anything big.

I could see them adding a solid but lower profile bat if the 3 kids continue to struggle into the ASB.
