April sucked, but it's over. Yesterday didn't count, because it just didn't. Now May starts and it's time for the near-daily maulings of opposing teams to commence in earnest. We are better than this and Dan Straily is about to have a significant upward adjustment of his ERA. Buchholz builds on the strong back end of his last start and manages to get at least one of the first three batters out.

 

All smack-talk aside, though, we played like dung through a whole month of the season and we're all of 3 games out of first place. There's a lot of baseball left.

The team seems different than the 2011 squad. That year started off poorly, but it seemed like it was because of spoiled underachievers like Beckett and Crawford, and a bad attitude.

 

This year is a hungry team, with quality pitching on the top-end, a quality farm system, and a lot of bad luck. This team is also extremely young -- as the year progresses, the rookies will only improve.

When did they finally put their full lineup out there? Against the Blue Jays, right? So, they're 3-3 with their intended lineup.

This year, the Sox will beat the Yanks in the WC game, and go on to beat the A's after that. Tigers will beat the first place AL east team to move on and face the Sox in an ALCS rematch. Tigers will win, but then lose the WS.

 

I don't need to win the WS this year, but we need to start an era of consistently making the playoffs. I want to see us there every year.
