Bedard vs. Lackey

7:05

The 2014 Red Sox need to start playing consistently well. They are struggling to get to .500, playing sub par ball in many of their victories as well as in their defeats. They have just not played consistently well at this juncture. The defense has been poor and the offense has sputtered from the opening bell. Hopefully, they can turn things around on this homestand.

I wish Johnny Pesky was still around to work with Bogaerts on his lateral movement the way he worked with Nomar when he was a rookie. The kid needs a mentor to teach him the position. The tools are there. He needs a one on one crash course from a former SS.

It's games like this that made me give up betting on baseball. On paper, this is a lock bet.

I can't think of many things less rational than betting on baseball.

Will the weather cooperate to get in this game?

It's presently 41F in lovely North Attleboro ( about 40 miles southwest of Fenway ). The sky is gray and the wind is constant. It feels like snow could be on the way!!!

I hope that this game happens!

Have you eaten at NorthWorks on S. Main? We went for breakfast a few weeks ago and it was great!

This should be a winnable game any day with Bedard on the mound... problem is that Lackey used to struggle against TB. ERA 8.1 GmSc 31 OPS vs TB .837 and SO/BB 1.82 since 2011. He has lost the last 4 game against TBR. On the other hand Lackey has pitched average this season and Bedard has looked horrible. BOS' O is the #19 and TBR the #7 (wRC+). TBR's D is the #7 and BOS the # 26 (UZR/150). This will be a slugfest. Edited by iortiz

No I haven't. Now that you have mentioned it I will have to check it out. About where is it? Is it diagonally across from the Post Office near Cobb's Lock and Key?

I just found this tid bit on Boston.com http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2014/04/what_to_watch_during_the_red_sox_homestand_as_the.html

" An underrated aspect of the Red Sox' start has been the level of competition they've faced. Through 26 games, 23 have come against teams currently at or above .500. The Yankees, conversely, have played three such contests."

A lot have to do with our really and extremely s***** defense and hitting, both have been near last in baseball. Offense is starting to turn a corner at least.

Hmmm...I think that might be skewed a tad by the Sox and Yankees playing each other 7 times.
