Frank thomas

Glavine

Schill

Edgar Martinez

Tim Raines

Piazza

Bagwell

I think Thomas, Maddux and Glavine get in.

On PEDs and the HOF:

Starting to get to the point that I just don't care about PEDs anymore. Everyone's accused of being a juicer if they hit 50 home runs anyways, and now we're talking about Pujols being held out of the HOF because of an accusation. We aren't even talking about proof, this is an accusation that some seem to be making a stink about. If it were to come out tomorrow that he was juicing, I wouldn't feel this way, but the witchhunting is just getting out of hand.

Nevermind the fact that Bonds has never actually tested positive for steroids, as obvious as it may be, but he's currently being held out of the hall on suspicion.

I can see it either way, the players of the past didn't have steroids to obtain their records, but they also didn't have GMs who are limiting the amount of pitches they can throw or managers taking them out for platooning reasons. You can make the argument that steroids is just an evolution of the game.

Keeping these guys out is ridiculous. Most of them were juicing when there were no rules against juicing or when the league actually encouraged it. Why do we continue to vilify baseball's heroes for Selig's mistakes ? Especially guys who weren't even caught...

@pedrogomezESPN: My 2014 MLB HOF ballot: Tom Glavine, Greg Maddux, Fred McGriff, Jack Morris, Lee Smith, Frank Thomas, Alan Trammell

Morris over Mussina? McGriff over Edgar? Lee Smith?

I knew this guy was an idiot.

How the f*** does Biggio not get in? 3000 hits is a shoe in and should be. That's ridiculous

There will be a lot of people pissed off about who gets in and who doesn't this time around. Weren't us Red Sox fans totally chapped that it took Jim Rice 15 years before he got the nod? I will be upset if Maddux and Thomas aren't in there by Wednesday, but there seem to be a few more who should be given consideration and I stand convicted for forgetting Craig Biggio. His name should be considered strongly for the Hall and I'll drop a recommendation for Mussina. He was a lot better and lot more effective that some give him credit for.

Not everything is worth getting pissed off about Fred.

Biggio will get in, i'm just surprised he wasn't a first-time selection. It seems it'll take him a couple more tries though.

I was reading some of the opinion articles on mlb.com (can't remember the name of the guy) but the guy talks of a new wave of voter "thinking" where they punish guys for being "compilers", as in guys who stay in the majors way more than they should so they can finish building a HOF case. It seems like Biggio may be getting punished because of this line of thinking.

I don't agree that players should be punished for compiling, but I also don't think 3,000 hits should be an automatic entry. Arbitrary standards like that are silly when the game has evolved over the past 100 years.

Well it all comes out in the wash tomorrow morning. I think there will be at least two and maybe as many as four who make it. My money is on Thomas, Maddux, Biggio and one mystery guest.

Only 3 players and no Biggio. Lame. No problem with the three who made it though. All deserving.

A little late but personally:

1. Bonds

2. Clemens

3. McGwire

4. Schilling

5. Maddux

6. Glavine

7. Thomas

8. Piazza

9. Bagwell

10. Biggio

It's also a crime that Trammel and Raines aren't in yet.

I really despise the BBWAA. No unanimous inductees, ever. Six people voted for Hideo Nomo and two people voted for Eric Gagne, but 16 people didn't vote for Greg Maddux?

Jacque Jones even got a vote.

At least the finger wagger Palmeiro won't be on the ballot next year. The media swooned over him after his testimony. Now? Not so much.

What do some of these scribes have for brains----s***??????? Sixteen of them DIDN'T vote for Greg Maddux? If that is true they all should be jettisoned from ever voting for HoF candidates again. Maybe while we're at it the whole voting procedure should come in for some major reforms along with getting people on that board who know a little more about the game than those 16 dorks did. Really hard to believe.

Personally, I', pleased Thomas and Maddux made it because to me that was a slam dunk, but it's a real bummer that Biggio missed by only two votes. IMHO someone screwed up there.
