He also hit a pretty big shot, and took a hard-earned walk against Wainwright. I bet he gets a crucial hit on Wednesday and we are forced to sacrifice you to appease the baseball Gods. Sorry bro, that's just how it works.

Understood. I wouldn't want anyone else out there. He made a s*** ton of huge plays actually.

Jacko and Carter are crying over their Zimas right now giving thought to that double Dutch rudder that was mentioned here the other night.

They're going to hate both of us on Wednesday when we give them s*** lmao. They'll have us blocked.

I guess it was the hip in Jon's case according to Ross. Like I said when Jon went after that paper airplane it took him so long to walk over to it. Then when he got there you could tell he really did not know how he was going to bend down to get it. He did not want to bend at the knees like a girl but he definitely did not want to bend from his waist either.

C'mon Carter, own this thing. The crying thing and all that, Gomes getting drilled..8-1 cards win. Wow that post was wrong on every possible level. Edited by Brennan

Lester's career postseason ERA is now 2.11, putting him fifth all-time MLB history behind Mo Rivera (.70), Christy Mathewson (1.06), Waite Hoyt (1.83), and Bob Gibson (1.89). I'd say he's our ace and then some.

The Red Sox are not going to be contending this season no matter what Cherington does. If September rolls around and they are in contention, it's either a miracle, or Cherington did something extremely short-sighted that will come back to haunt this team down the line (like opening up the checkbook for Josh Hamilton, or emptying the farm for some quick fix guy that won't be worth it).

"Can you think of any players who have gone through the kind of stretch Ortiz has gone through this season? "

"I would say I've done it maybe 20 times this year."

First inning tonight, Pedey and Ortiz jumped on Wainwright quickly, went to the plate swinging aggressively early in the count. They did not allow Wainwright to get to his curve which he was not throwing at that point until he had two strikes for the most part. Later in his stint he was throwing breaking balls whenever he wanted to until he finally cracked under the pressure of a 1-1 game and Jon actually getting stronger inning after inning.

If the Sox jump on Wacha early in Game 6 in Fenway, I am not sure the Cards will have an answer to that. Game 7's are a completely different story. But the Cards would have to win in 6 to take it to a game 7. Get Wacha early....get the champagne on ice.

One subtle element here that has broken our way was that Will had been an epic fail in the one shot he has gotten in this series. That combined with the mountain of evidence that this series has been all about pitching and defense made it easier for Farrell to make the correct decision and put his best defenders in the key defensive positions. I feel badly for Will that it has turned out the way it has but if we win this thing, ya' gotta' take the WS win and satisfy yourself that Will is young and still has his career ahead of him. Things have looked much better for us when we are not f***ing ourselves right in the ass. That means Salty sits. Will sits. Drew plays SS and Ross is behind the plate.

When the hitting has stopped, the team has been able to shift and lean on their run prevention, and somewhat improbably, against some bigger name foes pitchingwise - it has worked. Has been the best team in the league, and has been a joy to watch them, no matter the outcome. Just hope we can get the last "W".

Yeah, I like Ortiz with a guarnateed AB in the 1st. I'm iffy about f***ing with anything regarding Xander.

What if Victorino plays? Should they bat him lower in the lineup and keep Ortiz batting 3rd?

Yes but it would be a hard thing to do to Vic.
