“It has not been proven, but I think ultimately it will be proven that the air is thinner now, there have been climactic changes over the last 50 years in the world, and I think that’s one of the reasons balls are carrying much better now than I remember.”

"Two fastballs that travelled a combined 190 miles per hour. 95 miles per hour each."

"I just said Pandoval. I combined Sandoval and Panda. I think I should coin that."

"If you can throw strikes that look like balls, and balls that look like strikes, that's the right formula."

"There are very few pitchers that are team oriented."

"No, the fifth game of the first round is the worst, the most pressure. That ranks No. 1 because of the difference of the three-out-of-five format and the season. You play 162 games to play three-out-of-five. The disparity between the two is the reason it makes such an impact."

"It's the guys who can breathe. It's the guys who have moisture in their mouth. It's hard. The water goes down in lumps."

“That pitch wasn’t down and in, that pitch was down and up.”

"Mt. Everest erupts again!"

"Pitching is such a vital part of the game, as far as winning is concerned"

"Watch Darren Daulton use his mitt like a glove."

"There is a world of difference between a count of one ball and two strikes is a lot different situation than hitting with two strikes and one ball."

"You see Colon talking into his glove because David Ortiz, from the Dominican Republic, can obviously read lips in Spanish."

"Half of the Yankees' regulars this year have not been regulars."

"If you lead off and you play every day, you're guaranteed to bat with the bases empty at least 162 times."

Speaking of McCarver, does anyone remember "Scooter" the cartoon baseball? FOX debuted him during a Sox/Yankees game in like 2004 I think and it was one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen in my life.

I realized he doesn't know what he's talking about in the 2007 ALCS when he said "Manny knows this left field wall better than anyone" when Manny played right field in Cleveland.

And I can't stand the way he try's to make every situation dramatic. Could say the same for Joe Buck.

To be fair, about 99% of the moments in the postseason for the Sox were dramatic this year. Only two real blowouts (Game 1 of both the DS and the WS). Even last night's 6-1 felt more like a 6-5 game most of the way, I suppose because they scored all six by the fourth and then never scored again.

30 minutes after the clinching game of World Series, they cut away to a special feature on Will Mccarver's career. I don't think baseball should ever forgive Fox sports for that. The final game of World Series is not about Mccarver.

Your pretty much right, he didn't have to make quite as many moments out of nothing. But occasionally he'd still either ramble on about how important a nearly routine play was two batters ago or how crazy it is that some player has a pointless streak.

I guess I should get started on sexual harrassment jokes for next year's world series.

That would be appreciated.

Just wanted to stop by and kick McCarver's corpse a few times. What a great bonus gift to get on top of a Red Sox World Series championship.
