True that ... just saying. I never liked the deal because Beckett and Lowell were both coming off terrible years and Lowell was a pure salary dump who worked out for us. Look it up. Theo was not with the Sox at the time of the trade. Theo loved Hanley and you can see why.

I don't think you're going to find a Red Sox fan who isn't okay with losing those two in exchange for the 2007 WS.

Even I'm okay with it. That's saying something.

We won a world series with Lowell and Beckett though. Who cares.

This is the difference between the mind of a Yankees fan and Sox fan. I am the later but with these two players who knows how many more rings the Sox could have had. Just check out Hanley's rookie mvp season.

Beckett had a 3.38 ERA that year.

Stop. Stop now.

Not initially, no. The reason the Sox were eventually willing to part with Hanley was his character, which clearly was (and is) lacking. Also, no Beckett and Lowell, no 2007 WS. It's that simple.

Funny that they traded Hanley for Beckett because of character issues.HAAAA

Probably none, given the fact that Sanchez was pedestrian (and missed nearly a full season with elbow injuries) considering he pitched in the NL East and was outperformed by Beckett in most of the years he was under Marlins control anyways. Hanley ended up imploding in Miami. What makes you think he could've handled the Boston spotlight?

This is all hindsight anyways.

McCarver's wearing a scarf because he's a befuddled old loon who thinks he's ice skating right now.

Hate to say it, but I think I'm right.

Mike Lowell deserves some credit too. His 2007 was pretty friggin amazing if I remember correctly.
