I refuse to believe this dick Zito is going to dominate us in this game. So we should score and should be able to control their offensive output.

WMB!! Dude just looks so much better since being recalled.

Yes, as much as we criticize Sox management for mishandling this and that, they seem to have handled Middlebrooks's situation pretty well.

Nice charge into that one Will.

He is in much better shape having trouble laying off of pitches riding in under his hands than he was when he could not lay off of the pitches running outside and low. If the pitcher trying to get in under his hands misses, it is right in Will's wheelhouse. If the pitcher running the ball low and outside misses it is just lower or farther outside and there is nothing Will can do with that. This is a way better spot for Will to be in and everybody not named Cabrera has some weakness or another.

Watching this game on MLB TV, Drew is in the lineup because he is 11 for 33 lifetime against Zito. He did get one good stroke first time up--hitting one out just foul. Then flied out. Middlebrooks then hit one out for a HR to left--he looks good. There is hope yet for him.

Next inning, Salty frames a pitch right down the middle. Doubront throws it right in his glove--and the batter hit one out for a HR! Salty frames meatballs. Next catcher please. He's a good part of the pitching problem. Doesn't frame the corners. Watch Posey. He sits on the outside corner. The result is Zito is getting outside strikes. At least a couple so far.

Get your effin' glove off the middle of the plate, Salty!

If Will can keep it up I will surely feel much better about this offense. It is really a struggle from the right side lately.

As much as I dislike some of Farrell's decisions one thing I have been recently considering is the possibility that they realized Farrell had not lit up the managing world in Toronto but that this team was designed to carry the Sox over 2013. Presuming that is what they thought of the team (and no reason to suspect they thought otherwise), maybe they thought that Farrell would have a year or two to grow into the job.

That was a heck of a job by Pedey. Even though Zito is throwing all junk, that was a tough pitch to hit. If I had to hit that pitch last time I actually played organized baseball, I would have swung three times at that before the ball hit the catcher's mitt.

Man Ortiz is just jumping at pitches lately...lunging at them.

Just been in his two games this series. He was hot coming in.

Last 10 games Ortiz is batting .238 with an .857 OPS. He is usually over or at .300 for a batting average and close to 1.000 for an OPS.

Much of that is not giving him much of anything to hit. Hasn't been any reason to give him anything to hit.

Well those numbers have been thrown off because of his 0 for 7 this series. He was hitting well coming in.

Would have liked to see xander versus barry. I think he would have had a hit by now.

Drew is playing because he's .333 lifetime coming into today against Zito.
