Anthony ranaudo has had two good starts at pawtucket, in his first one he was very dominant and in his second one, he let up some hits but didnt let them ruin his outing. Althoufh he did have a tough outing, if ranaudo can have two string final starts, i would like to see what he could do in the rotation,
Brittle Boy Buchholz needs to step up his program and get back on the hill for us before we are 5 games out of 1st and struggling to hang onto the second wild card.

and making it so obvious was beyond moronic to the point of insanity. You are telling me that ballplayers sat down and thought this out....and that managers and coaches knew or at best sat back and watched it? Gonna take me a while to recover from this one. This kind of stupidity is simply hard for me to just brush off.

I agree jung. This is one of the most stunningly stupid moves I've ever seen in baseball. Did Dempster not even contemplate the possibility that it could backfire disastrously on his team? In a tight race? Like you I can't get over this.

I hope that SFF doesn't step in front of a moving vehicle after tonight's game. His head might have exploded. He hates this kind of stupidity. Get home safe guy.

I hope Ortiz goes up to him in the clubhouse and asks him WTF was that about.

If Dempster did discuss this with his teammates, I'm guessing he didn't mention that Part B of the master plan included giving up 2 runs that inning, serving up a meatball to Roid the following at-bat, and giving up 7 runs total. That probably would have dampened their enthusiasm.

Dumpster will get Ortiz plunk. s***** things could happen, broken wrist, hands.

I just cannot wait for him to get DFA. He has been worse than Dice-K to watch.

The usual apologists like Lou Merloni are just going to try to bury this but I suspect that it is not going to go away easily. In the first place the whole A-roid thing is not going away easily and idiot Dempster has put himself and his team right in the eye of the hurricane by making himself a self appointed representative of baseball et al. His idiot manager either knew and allowed it to happen or sat on his hands when he could have gone out there and stopped it.

Thank goodness I caught Ortiz's foul ball tonight, or else I would be irate. Luckily, the ball kept me cool.

Bad series, horrible pitching tonight. My best guess is that Dempster may get 1 more start and then Buch takes his slot and the rotation is Buch Lester Peavy Doubront Lackey, which is a solid rotation and can and will lead this team to the AL East title.

Dempster, while I did love seeing ARod get plunked, does not have even close to good enough stuff to put a lead off guy on base in a 2 run game and expect to live through it. Pretty dumb move situationally.

Middlebrooks looked like 2012 Middlebrooks tonight, and I think that's going to make a big difference going forward.

I also saw Buster Olney tweet that he thinks the Sox are going to have Bogaerts join them in their west coast swing. Makes sense to me. We've been riding Drew and Middlebrooks in every single game lately and they could both use a day here and there down the stretch, Drew particularly against LHP. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bogaerts start against nearly every lefty from here in out.

Not totally pissed about this loss. I think it's more if an outlier than a rule. We hit a good lefty tonight, but we had our #7 starter out there (yes even behind Workman), so you get what you get. Buch will be back soon. We're still 1 game up in the East, so take advantage of the Giants series and get back in track.

It's not long before the Rays have to head out west for a 9 or 10 game west coast trip, and that's where we can pick up a lot of ground

Oks.... Time to turn the page and start playing each game like playoffs. We need to sweep SF and take at least 1 game from LA.

The game wasn't lost when Dempster hit A-Rod.

The game was lost when Dempster walked a .220 hitting catcher to load the bases in the 5th. Walked a .220 hitting catcher, who's only other at bats to that point were a pop out to Nava and a lazy fly out to Gomes

The airhead manager let him stay him that long inning, knowing Tazawa cannot enter the game that early. So Farrell can get f*** by Satan thorned phallus.

Thanks for saying phallus instead of cock. Makes the idea much less offensive.

I think it's obvious that BTR mojo is long overdue. BTR, you need to start the gamethread tomorrow.

it's a west coast game and I always like BTR reactions.

The 6th inning was way too early to start playing match ups. He should have let Workman piggy back off of Dempster. Dempster was at 95 pitches and had about a 20 or 25 minute layoff. Sending him back out was idiotic. After the HR to ARod, he shouldn't have thrown another pitch

One last post on Dempster.

You're not a hero, dude.

A) You didn't back up what you did.

B) You could have gotten tossed after one inning and left your bullpen holding the bag for 8 innings.

C) You don't have to step up the plate to face possible retaliation - your teammates do.

D) You're getting paid 13.25 million dollars this year, and you're not really earning it so far. Now you've totally f***ed up a crucial game, against the Yankees.

Forgot, Farrell had mentioned going with a 4 man rotation soon, given all the off days.Maybe this was Dempsters last start. Could certainly see Peavy Lester Lackey Doubront for the next 10 days and then insert Buch and go 5 man or move Doub to the pen.

I'd be surprised if Dempster gets another start

Damn, I was getting updates at work and saw the Gardner triple. That right there is what killed us. Probably should have kept my mouth shut at work, I got too confident after that 6-3 lead. Oh well, BTR really needs to make a GT.

Dempster has absolutely zero ammo to pull this sort of s***. f*** him an infinity.

I think you are right SFF. Whether by four man rotation or by replacement I think Demps has started his last game this year....Thank God.

I did not think CC pitched at all well tonight. Left lots of pitches in the middle of the plate. We scored enough runs. Ya' score six runs in your house, you expect that should be enough to win the game. Just could not pitch AGAIN. I think there might just be enough days off to go with four for now.

On 4 pitches that were not close.

I think that Farrell will roll this puke out to the mound again when his turn comes around.

I don't think so. I think, with the Sox having an off day on both Thursday and Monday, they'll almost certainly go with a 4 man rotation through this west coast trip. After that, Buchholz should be ready by around 9/1, and that will give Dempster the permanent boot.

I am still looking for some rationale explanation for Dempster to throw at ARod in the second innng last night. Had the Yankee pitchers plunked our guys in the first 2 gamesand I missed it? Had ARod been showing up our pitchers in the first 2 games? Those would be reasons to hit him. I saw no reason. Why the hell were our fans cheering Dempster for putting on the lead off batter in the second inning with a 2 run lead? The whole situation was too stupid for words. Dumpster is basically useless as a starter at this point. He can't even keep us in games.

SFF, you are clearly on an adrenaline high from catching an Ortiz foul ball Tvery cool) and Bogaert's call up. This loss was much worse than game one when you went on a rant and declared us dead. It was the worst loss of the year on many fronts. We put up F against CC and jumped out to a lead only to watch Dempster act like a fool and then s*** himself and kill his team. He also managed to breathe life and spirit into the Yankees and galvanize the Yankee team. Behind ARoois. Unbelievable. At times like this I really wish we had Earl Weaver as our manager. He would be blasting Dempster's stupidity for the whole flight to CA. He road Jim Palmer mercileslly and Palmer was great. Farrell will say nothing. I am just hoping for us to hold serve in CA. And tread water in the standings.

Was it a bad loss? Yes. Was it as bad as the loss on Friday? No way. The Yankees just pounded the ball against Dempster. I'm not surprised about that. It wasn't 3 errors that cost us the game.

I also don't put as much stock into hitting ARod as you I guess. To me, the game changed when Dempster walked Stewart on 4 pitches. That was the turning point, to load the bases. Dempster should have never seen a batter after ARod took him deep. That should have been it. Workman should have been ready to come in and throw the next 2 innings. That was bad managing.

Regardless, the Sox had their #7 starter going up against the Yankees ace-turned-into-#2-starter. Dempster won't make the post season roster. The Yankees won't HAVE a post season roster.

Bad loss? Sure. But I'm still not pissed about it in the least. I got all that anger out in game 1.
