I've always interpreted it in a similar fashion. I don't think it's trying to say they're actually bad at baseball but that everything the Yankees stand for and represent sucks.

I'd really like to see us sign Brian McCann. He's OPSing over .900 and plays great defense. Vazquez strikes me as more of a backup and I don't think Lavarnway's defense at catcher will every be major league caliber.
