His numbers are there every year even though he barely k's 100 batters. If he puts up his usual numbers, he's worth it.

I'll agree that he's normally a good pitcher but close to 20 per year is a bit much.

Manny, Drew, Lowell, Tek off chase wright

I was working on an Oceanography project while eating takeout Chinese food when that happened in my freshmen year of college.

That is one of those few events where you remember exactly where you were and what you were doing when it happened.

I wonder if Miami will still be paying part of Buehrle's money in 14 and 15. That is way too much money for him at that point but maybe palatable to the Jays if Miami is still footing part of the bill.

Miami paid Toronto $8.5M in the trade.

He has a 6.68 ERA, horrible peripherals and declining movement on all his pitches. He's also on the wrong side of 30.

You can be pretty certain he won't be worth it.

I think he'll start settling in here soon. Season is hardly a month old now.

I think $3M of the $8.5M was earmarked specifically for 2013 Buerhle salary. Just don't know if there is more headed the Jays way that is earmarked for Buerhle salary.

Yeah you usually don't get BETTER as you age. You usually get WORSE, unless you're getting some outside assistance.

Doesn't necessarily mean he's going to totally implode either. He's been very consistent over his career and just because he is 34 doesn't mean he's suddenly terrible.

I'm not arguing the decline either, but usually decline is pretty gradual, not immediate.

But i'm talking over the life of the contract and considering the money he's making. He may be decent at 12-13 per, but over 16 per for the last three years? No way.

The contract isn't worth it no, especially backloaded like that.. You would think it would make more sense to pay for the earlier years and pay less for the older guy, not really sure what the logic behind that signing was. Unless it was to sign the guy for cheap and trade him before he got expensive.

Cabrera without "medicinal help" runs like a little red wagon with one wheel missing and one out of round. What a joke!

The PEDs thing was really obvious, considering he's been meh most of the time and then suddenly hits .600 with a million homers.

I knew it was happening, apparently so did MLB....

Dear David Ortiz. I want to sincerely apologize for all that s*** I said about you in 2009. You're awesome.

Way to be Pal! We all had our doubts to some degree or another.

Roll Papi!!

How great is he right now! Love him. :D

What are they going to do when he finally retires?? I'm so used to seeing him I'm not sure I'd know how to deal with it.

I mean they were still good while he was on the DL, but we knew he was coming back at some point then
