It's kind of sad that we couldn't score anything with the bases loaded with Middlebrooks/Drew/Ross, but at least we got them out of the way so we can begin the next inning with the top of the order.

It's one thing to not hit, but holy s*** have some patience. It's like he gets paid to swing at first pitch, f***ing moron.

Middlebrooks should get paid by the pitch he sees at the plate.

So damn true. Hopefully in time he'll develope a better plate presence and consistency.

Yet he's still having a much better season than Papelbon for a tenth of the price.

But but but we needed Papelbon!! We have to overpay even though we have people worthy of closing for much cheaper! Get out of here with that nonsense.

If only we could have sent him down with JBJ. He's not worthy of MLB at bats at this point.

I hear ya but who would play 3B? Ciriaco?

I still think WMB may be making a conscience effort to be more aggressive so early in counts because he has grown so feeble late in counts. He may have even been instructed to try to look for more opportunities to swing early in counts. That does not excuse that last mess. That was a terrible pitch to swing at with an 0-0 count. I think he is trying to grope for a way through this while working on a real solution....which is going to have to start with not being so feeble and so vulnerable particularly to the slider with two strikes.

Jung, i just triple-checked that pitch on Gameday, and according to it (and Gameday is much better than our naked eyes), that was a middle-in pitch all over the plate he should have crushed. I understand that he should stop swinging at first pitches and work the count, but in this case you're crucifying him for swinging at a good pitch to hit.

Jon may pay for that one. That is showing up the ump. Jon had plenty of time NOT to start walkin' toward the dugout. Gotta' keep your cool. There is no winning this battle for the pitcher.

Patience. WMB will come around. He's too talented not to.

I think so too. Nice defense and when he does hit the ball he looks like a natural.

No worries Lester. Overall good outing.

Pen don't blow it! Offense help Lester get the W.

Middle in is not what you should want 0-0...middle middle is worth swinging at 0-0. That is what he got the 0-0 pitch before that and that is why I did not crucify him for that one. Look where he hit it. He did not get anything like the meat of the bat on that ball. Not even close.

I feel like with Middlebrooks in Fenway middle-in is perfect. But yeah I'd almost rather Middlebrooks leave his bat in the dugout so the pitcher has to throw at least 3 pitches to get him out.

I'll be patient if WMB gets more patient :D

He'll obviously not hit like this all year, but he's got to have some more patience at the plate and not hack at bad pitches.
