In years past, that popup would have either

A) Fallen directly in between players.

B ) Caused a collision between players resulting in season ending surgery for one of them.

When do they expect Lackey to be back?

I'm sure it'll be soon enough that we don't have to have Aceves taking the mound as a starter become a regular occurrence. That just wouldn't be fair.

C) Clanked off a bird for a ground-rule double

D) Been caught, but then overruled on catcher's interference

E) All of the above

How many walks tonight for both teams? 706?

It really has me wondering about the questions people were posing upthread about the mound. I can't actually watch the game, but 12 walks (and counting) does seem a bit excessive.

Usually opposing pitchers fight to landscape the mound. One guy comes out..landscapes to his liking...next guy comes out and landscapes it to his liking. They have all been falling off awkwardly after releasing the ball at times. Could be slick out there with the rain. Seems odd when none of them can get comfortable.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but Nava has looked very good in the outfield today.

You're not. He's been pretty awesome and reliable. So psyched for him and the team! Too bad others dismissed him prior to the season. Yes, yes...it's early, I know. :D

Its a shame it isn't raining a little bit.. this just seems like a good game to call it in the seventh. Neither team really wants to burn 3 more innings of relief pitchers, and most of the fans left early after the 7-0 lead.

IMO Nava has been the best LFer on this team and was at the start of the season. Vic might be a better LF but we will not know since he has to play RF. Had contended as much before opening day.

Does not mean that Nava is the end all be all of LFer's but he is the best LFer on this team.

He is much improved in the OF, but his value is getting on base. Others field, run and throw better than him. Tonight, he is wearing the golden sombrero.
