I don't know who might have heard by now but Reyes is gone from the Jays for 1-3 months with a ripped up ankle. Best player they had so far and......gone!

How many times do guys get hurt trying to decide between going into a base standing or sliding and then making the final choice too late. To me it is just stupid anyway. Go in sliding on a stolen base attempt. There is no decision there. The runner is trying to decide if he has the base stolen by enough to go in standing...... why?????? Chances are so slim that the runner is going anyplace from there. Just decide that trying to steal a base means you are gonna' slide and leave it at that. I have seen so many guys injured in exactly the same way.

Sorta' feel sorry for the Jays in a way. They are one of the teams trying to get there without the cash to go large every year. Took their shot this year and the whole thing looks like it is going to crumble right in front of them. Something is wrong up there anyway. That team looked dead when we played them...lifeless. Something was already f***ed up for them to be playing with such a lack of enthusiasm in a year when you would have expected just the opposite. Now Reyes is gone.

I think you're reading a bit too much into the lifeless thing. The Yankees also looked that way and now they are back to life. The Jays' sparkplug, as such, will be Lawrie when he gets back. But what their season really rests on is the big guys in their starting rotation.

The Angels are a team that looks f***ed in the early going. 2-8 after losing to Houston. Weaver is out and Hamilton is hitting .179.

The Yanks just looked to be outgunned but they were not really lackluster....just undermanned. Four games does not a season make. I suspect the Yanks are still going to struggle with so many guys on the shelf regardless of having won the last four games. They can still pitch to some extent. If another guy goes down in the rotation they are really in trouble. Besides I don't think there is a fountain of youth somewhere built into the new stadium. Petite's age is likely to catch up to him at some point this year.

They apparently got some good news on Tex. It sounds like the worst case scenario is off the table and he is likely back not just in May but early May for that matter.

As for Jays pitching I think JJ will be fine. Dickey will have the usual problems that knucklers have in the AL East. Buehrle is the guy that I think will really struggle over here.

The yankees can pitch more than a little bit. CC may have lost some velo, but he's looked like himself the last two starts. Pettitte has been unhittable. Kuroda should rebound. And Hughes had a solid yr last yr. Going into the offseason, I was worried about the offense. Coming out of the offseason, I was very concerned about the offense. And coming out of ST, I was distraught about the offense. Through 9 games, though, the house of cards is holding up. We don't need it to hold up for the yr, just until Jeter, Grandy and Tex return. In terms of ARod, I hope he falls into a ditch and loses a leg

I think Fox is the only station carrying this game today. No NESN. Maybe an MLB package has it but so far I have only found Fox with it. 12:30 telecast. Probably means 1:05 for first pitch.

The Sox are 5-0 when scoring first, 0-4 when they don't.

Ellsbury hasn't had a stolen base the last 3 games. The Red Sox come into Fenway, they stop running.

Different brand of ball from last week on the road? I don't know, but they were winning last week using all phases of the game. The Drew change at SS was definitely a letdown, as Iggy is hot and Drew is cold.

I have to get all my crap done and be back home by 1:00. I hope that Price continues to struggle. Sox need a win.

TB has not started the season well--thanks partly to Price. Hamels has been in a similar funk.

Shows you how unpredictable April can be. But they usually scrape out wins against the Red Sox, so we'll see.

The 3-4-5 rotation spots are the soft underbelly of the Red Sox right now. Doubront might be the best one, but he gets pushed back from the rainout. Don't know why.

Sometimes I wonder if you're just messing with us all.

In those three games, Ellsbury was on base exactly two times. One of those occasions was a triple.

During game 1 of the series, Victorino tried to steal, but Wieters caught him. Wieters has had a cannon this season so far, catching 4 out of 5 stolen bases so far this year.

Farrell is try to line up the rotation again. That's what he said, anyway. They plan a simulated game for Doubront this week where he will like throw about 45-50 pitches.

Having Lester go against Price is not a bad idea. The Rays are really a frustrating team to play. Early n the season their bullpen is usually a mess that becomes a plus for them a couple of months in.

Are they attempting to skip over Lackey's spot as often as possible.
