He gets paid a lot of money to do one thing... And that opening day save was pretty shakey, too.

100 percent agreed! It is just one game. But when your in a division like this every game counts! Can't afford to have blown saves like this. He absolutely stunk today call me bitter but I'm pissed.

Jesus guys. He blew ONE game. Y'all were praising him the other day and now you are ragging on him. CALM THE F DOWN

In this division, 1 game is the difference between 91 and 92 wins.....1 game against Tampa a couple years ago cost us the playoffs.

In the ALE, 1 game is everything.

True, with the 2WC format, winning the division is a MUST.

Let's hope Tillman sucks tomorrow and Aceves isn't Aceves.

Well I don't know if aceves bot being aceves is good or bad... It's pretty sad but this was a game that should have won

Jopete----Let us blow off some steam. This was a very crushing way to lose the game. I'm calmed down because I blew my cork at my computer when Machado went out of the yard while I cursed that fat son of a bitch with every damn word that I could think of. Now we will see what kind of a team we really have. The Orioles are sky high coming back and winning at Fenway Park in the last inning----again (shades of 2012?) and we have to be down a little. Tomorrow we have Aceves throwing for us and whether we like this guy or not we have to root our asses off for him and hope to hell that we can get more than the five hits we've gotten in the last two games.

What really sucks is there is a lot more pressure on Aceves now. Had we won today this would be a third straight series win to start the season. With a crushing blow like this, there is a lot more pressure for us to win tomorrow now. I'm more nervous about tomorrow then ever. I just keep telling myself its only 8 games into the season. But I know at the end of the year it's games like this that count. When we are fighting for the division or wild card spot we will remember the game that we were ahead in the 9th and blew it. Absolutely crushing.

On a much lighter note Power Rangers Turbo is on. Taking me back to my child hood :)

On the bright side, Nava has become a power hitter from the right side of the plate. Maybe he'll make Gomes irrelevant.

Hanrahan has games like this when he loses it. He can blow up very badly. It doesn't happen too often thankfully. He ain't going to make me forget Papelbon, who blew up like this very very rarely during his tenure.

Ted, I almost called you after this nightmare of a game. I needed someone to vent out my pissed of anger out but took it out on the computer screen. You know, some are going to say the season is early and all that s***, but these games count and one game could mean the difference between a wild card berth or not, and two could mean the difference between an AL East Title and bumpkiss. These are the games we should and must win. The only way to make up for this debacle tonight is to win TWO of these type of games when WE come back in the last inning win.....and preferably on the road.

Jeez I went off to the wood shop figuring it would take awhile to get the teams back on the field. Before I know it we are winning and losing again just that fast.

So anyway I am going to mention this for what its worth. I mentioned it the first time we saw Hanrahan pitch in the cold and I chalked it up to the cold.

It seems to me that it takes a few pitches for Hanrahan's FB to start to finish with a tall the way he wants it to finish. The first few he throws and maybe at times more than a few have super velocity but they don't finish. They tend to be flat and don't move very much. After he throws a few (how many I don't know) they begin to move and finish for him the way he wants.

Koji's FB is not quite at the same velo as Hanrahans but it has plenty of juice on it and is moving from the very first pitch.

I honest to God don't know that they should make the change. I would take lots of velo and lots of movement over more velo with less movement any day of the week. Just not sure if it makes sense to give up on Haranhan at this point. I do think the dif between Hanrahan's early FB's as to movement and Koji's makes for a really interesting comparison. You have to take into consideration that Koji has not done it in the 9th inning before and Hanrahan has. I can absolutely see UN's point though and it is worth consdering at some point If Hanrahan continues to have stints like this. We have seen enough of moon shots in the 9th inning thank you very much.

I wonder if Haranhan is trying too hard to throw with velo when he first comes in and if he needs to find a way to throw within himself until the movement comes for his FB. How I would love to know what Farrell is thinking and saying to Nieves and Hanrahan.

Happy with the record so far. That is a tough way to lose though.

Horrible blown save by Hanrahan. Also horrible blown call by the ump on McLouth. Hanrahan struck him out to end the game and the ump blew it. MLB Gameday clearly shows that pitch #5 called a ball was better than pitch #1 called a strike. Clear, indisputable evidence that the ump f***ed us.

Hanrahan struck McLouth out twice. Both pitches were on the edges. I don't understand why we still need umpires judging balls and strikes-- they are completely irrelevant in that endeavor. The only value they serve is ruining games, and give the Yankees a special strike zone.

There is a box, and the pitch is going to be inside that box, or outside. Both of those pitches were inside it. Barely, sure, but both were.

We can't hang a 5 run implosion on 1 bad call. That would just make us look whiny. There was a lot of bad pitching mixed in.

Hanrahan is light years better than that head case Aceves who melted down every other appearance. However, he doesn't have the steel spin of Papelbon.

Those who thought that the O's will thud back to earth in 2013 were kidding themselves. The O's play hard, never give up, and they may have the best balanced team in the division. There is a lot of talent on that team.

No question. Hanrahan f***ed up large.

But to me it's two separate things. The ump blew a call that would have ended the game with us winning. Most of the time that gets called a strike. He had already called a worse pitch a strike in the same at-bat. It irks me.

Tough loss last night.

Put it behind you. Win the series. That's the ultimate goal. Win every series. Last night didn't prevent that. Go out there and win tonight.

Oh - Side note - Obviously Hanrahan's BS hurts because it was in the 9th, but that was a sloppy sloppy game by our OF. Can't be giving away outs in the 1st inning and expect to win.

Yep, it is frustrating.
