Jose Bautista - who left Thursday’s game after tweaking his right ankle - is not in tonight's @BlueJays lineup.

More from The Globe:

Game time: 7:07 p.m.

TV/Radio: NESN / WEEI

Red Sox vs. Johnson: Victorino 12-38, Gomes 2-8, Ross 1-3, Pedroia 1-2, Salty 0-3.

Blue Jays vs. Doubront: Bautista 2-12, 2 HR; Encarnacion 5-9, 1 HR; Rasmus 4-11, 1 HR; Davis 1-10, Arencibia 1-7, 1 HR; Lind 0-6, Reyes 3-6, Izturis 0-0.

Stat of the Day: The Sox have yet to hit a home run. This is the longest they have gone to start the season without a home run since 1993, when the first one came in the fourth inning of the sixth game. It was hit by Mo Vaughn against Kevin Brown of the Rangers.

Notes: Red Sox manager John Farrell was 154-170 in two seasons with the Jays before he returned to Boston. His desire to return to the Red Sox rankled the Blue Jays, their fans and some in the media in Ontario. Farrell will be booed loudly all weekend. ... Doubront is starting the season with a game in Toronto for the second straight season. He was 1-2, 5.91 in four starts against the Jays last season but pitched well in two starts at the dank Rogers Centre, allowing four earned runs in 11.1 innings. ... Johnson was one of the too-expensive Florida Marlins the Blue Jays were able to obtain in November for seven prospects. Johnson faced the Sox last June 11 and allowed one run over seven innings. ... Napoli is 2 for 14 and has yet to drive in a run.

MO VAUGHN! my favorite player circa 1993 (do 4 yr olds have favorite players?)

Arrieta is struggling vs Twins right now. 4-1 top 4th, 3 runs in the inning on 2 outs. Yankees got smoked today 8-3 vs DET. I love it!

Nunez got injured, too. I do not like to see any player in any sport get injured, but the Red Sox suffered the injury plague last year (and the Patriots seem to suffer it every year!) If the plague has to spread, who better to then the Yankees?

@kapsis21 I am on that bandwagon, too! And I hope Ruby is able to contribute in 2013.

I can't wait to see what Rubby and Webster have to offer. Couple them with Barnes and we have a great deal of potential for the future of our rotation.

This pitching matchup tonight is interesting. Doubront was pretty good last year, one of my favorite pitchers on the team. Johnson was the ace of the terrible Marlins.

Napoli certainly has a way better shot at hitting one in Toronto than in NY. They will be indoors I would guess. So they will be out of the cold. Napoli can certainly reach LF in Toronto.

Off topic but I almost drafted Chris Davis in my fantasy league. FML for passing on him.

Same here, I even had someone draft him in the first round in one of my leagues.

A heard from a few Tornonto fans today that said the prevailing feeling was that Farrell had signed a contract and should have stayed in Toronto. But it is not like Farrell had a gun to their heads. If Toronto wanted to keep him they could have. It is not like Managers can pout and start managing like s*** cause they don't get their way.

Didn't Valentine basically do that?

Looks like another interesting home plate ump tonight. Barrett was terrible in game 1 in NY. Bellino was very good in game 2. Dimuro was sort of between the two in game 3. Barrett is one of the most inconsistent home plate umps I have seen.
