You mentioning Christ and the Bible as the absolute truth offends what I believe in. You acting as if a still photo from a Charlie Sheen movie is an affront to what I believe in.

This is the internet. Not everyone here is a Christian. Even the ones who are are all different denominations of Christian. We have a couple Muslims, probably some Jews, maybe even a Hindu or a Buddhist, not to mention at least one atheist. As long as it is not explicit sexuality or violence, due to the presence of minors, anyone can post any picture they damn well please. You have two options here. You can scroll past the picture, ignore it after telling yourself it's a prop from a fictional entertainment program, or you can leave. This is not a Christian message board, this is a Red Sox message board. No one, not me, not Thunder, not even someone I hate with a passion and want to ban (a700, maybe?) is going to walk on eggshells afraid to offend someone's religious or political sensibilities. (Just like you're offending mine now). I could ban you for offending MY religious beliefs (or lack thereof), but I won't, because that would make me the very thing I hate more than anything else, someone who insists that all the world around them conform to their narrow definition of what is correct.

Do not reply to this post. Do not argue. This is a message board and no one here will bow down to your god or your sacred book. I've told you your ootions. Accept that this is a place to express yourself freely, or never come back again.

You're not the only atheist here. I share your lack of belief and agree with everything you just said. The last thing anybody here should be worried about is offending someone's delicate sensabilties.

Does anyone else really want the game to start? We have some heated discussions going on here.

It's just misinformed people spewing hate about things they've only heard about on TV and in movies, and know absolutely nothing at all about.

Came out before I was born, so I never got into it.

would you not watch a Ted Williams movie or Jackie Robinson movie because it came out before you were born ..

just like Moneyball is a good movie to watch.. Major league is more on the funnier side. give it a shot.

dont tell me you havent watched Moneyball either.

I just had to google this. I am...I don't even know. Why? Why would someone do that?

He pitched in HS IIRC and his mechanics looked legit but he took roids so he could get a little extra on his fastball. I think he was able to get it up around the mid 80's.

Despite my rant, I'd rather not have to move large sections of this thread due to religious derailment. So let's just leave it at this. Everyone stop complaining. You all have the right to post pictures whether or not they offend someone else, you all have the right to be mind-numbingly ignorant about other cultures or religions. I won't ban anyone for religious reasons, but I will ban you all if you annoy me.

Sounds fair enough. Can we annoy you just a teensy weensy bit without getting banned or is it a zero tolerance policy?

Man, imagine if Wakefield had juiced? He might have gotten his fastball up to 80 too!

It's definitely not zero tolerance. If you weren't allowed to annoy me at all, everyone would have been gone a long time ago, and it would be just me, posting silently in gamethreads, slowly losing my mind more and more until one day I shot Dustin Pedroia thirty times in the chest outside of a restaurant in a desperate bid to impress Jodie Foster.

I loved Moneyball, will go see 42 the day it opens, and will probably see a movie about Ted Williams if one came out.

Oh, I really do adore your sense of humor.

One already has. It's called Captain America.

You kids these days. Die Hard Came out before you were born, if Major League did. Vertigo, Psycho, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Dr. Strangelove, Airplane!, M*A*S*H, Star Trek, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Cheers, Taxi.... The list goes on. Most of the best movies and television came out long before either of us were born. That doesn't make it bad. I dare you to watch anything with Leslie Neilsen in it, at least anything except Scary Movie 70 or whatever, or watch a couple episodes of M*A*S*H before Alda started directing, or watch any episode of Taxi centered around Reverend Jim, and tell me it wasn't enjoyable. You don't know what you're denying yourself.

I'm saying that I wasn't exposed to it. Not saying it's bad. Not at all.

Just because you weren't exposed to something doesn't mean you shouldn't be curious. (Unless we're talking about high levels of radiation, in which case, way to be on top of things). All we're saying is check out the movie. We all guarantee you'll enjoy it, and if you don't, well, at least you tried.

I think, in response to both the unfathomable decision not to watch either film and the equally unfathomable decision to insist on excluding all but one religion from our free and open message board due to a photo from those same films, I am going to pepper this entire gamethread with quotes from Major League, wherever they can be used without being nonsensical.

Do you agree that this is the best course of action, VA? Normally I am loathe to reduce my sense of humor to repeating what others have written, but this seems to be a special case.

Seconded, please proceed

Dude it's an absolute classic. The older baseball movies are by far the best,

My must see list in no order,

Major league(If you like this one then the 2nd becomes a good watch, don't hold the 3rd one against the previous 2)

Field of Dreams

Sandlot

A League of their own

The Natural

Bull Durham(yes Kevin Costner was once a good actor and made was part of some of the best baseball movies ever)

Would it be considered stirring the pot if I brought up the absence of the Ancient Alien theory on the belief list? :D

I left it off because we were talking older movies, Fever Pitch is on the overall list

Speaking of sports movies, has anybody seen Big Fan? Now that is a great movie about fandom taken to the obsession level.

If I didn't think he was crazy in a good way I wouldn't have said it.

Sorry didn't mean for it to sound negative, I was merely putting my spin on it, I didn't really think you thought he was crazy in a bat s*** way
