Yankees starting to decline again. Perfect timing before my trip
Their lineup is pathetic. When i heard some of the game on the radio, I didn't even realize the Yankees were at bat. They have a bunch of kids in their lineup. Sounded like a minor league line up. CC didn't get lit up. There were 2 big errors behind him and some bloop hits. He gave up 3 earned runs-- a good day for Lester. Edited by a700hitter

My bad. Regardless, they lost.

I am currently loving the Vernon Wells, Travis Hafner and Kevin Youkilis acquisitions. Eat s***, Jacko.

lmao you beat me to it. I was going to post stats and do comparisons of both teams, to determine who had a better offseason.

Yankees place Jeter on disabled list

By Peter Abraham, Globe Staff

The Red Sox will not be facing Derek Jeter this weekend. The Yankees today placed him on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to July 12) with a right quadriceps strain.

The Yankees purchased the contract of Brent Lillibridge. A corresponding 40-man roster move will be announced later today.

Jeter, 39, was on the disabled list all season recovering from a fracture ankle. He was activated on July 11 and strained his quad in that game.

Lillibridge was one of the players the Red Sox obtained from the White Sox in the trade for Kevin Youkilis on June 24, 2012. He played only 10 games for the Red Sox before being traded to the Guardians. He has since played for the Cubs and now the Yankees.

You guys still had dissention in the ranks as to whether the sox could contend up until that massive trade. I doubt you'd find many Yankee fans who think this team can contend and it shows in the attendance. We came into this season thinking the Yankees needed one big month out of the replacements and we got it. Now, we need a big season, and they don't have it in them

That's because Yankees fans are spoiled brats. Any team within 5 games of a playoff spot with more than 50 games to play is in contention.

If the Yanks don't make it the playoffs this year it'll be the second time since 1993. The misery of it all.

Yes, that must be so tough for them. Everyone feel sorry for Yankees fans because they're not in first place in July and may not make the playoffs this year.

Do what must be done Cashman. Blow this f***er up

I'm very surprised they haven't even considered the blow-it-up-option. Cano would bring in a top 20 prospect, easy. Hughes, Granderson could yield some returns as well. They also might want to consider trading Sabathia, if they forsee his production dropping... the guy can't do this forever, can he?

And ARod is hurt again. Can we stop it with injured guys getting injured before or shortly after they come back? Grandy, Jeter, Tex, now ARod. WTF?!?!

You mean to tell me all of these injured players didn't return immediately to old form and turn the Yankees in to world beaters? But I thought the Yankees just had to stay close to the Red Sox and they'd have the division in the bag.

No sympathy for you, the NYY or A-Turd.

It's funny because you can very easily say that most of his peripherals aren't all that different than what he has done for most of his career (and some have even improved BB rate), and that the one outlier is his HR/FB and HR/9 rates, which can easily be explained by bad luck in a short samplings and can be expected to normalize as the sample size grows. That's a totally reasonable position, and the complete opposite of the one you presented.

Still think Sabathia's getting unlucky with his home run rate? It's continued to climb since you and jackso gave me a hard time about saying Sabathia's in decline.

It's almost as if old players are more susceptible to injuries, and injured players are likely to have set backs. Weird.

Funny isn't it? At least Red Sox fans have accepted that Lester just isn't very good anymore, at least not consistently. He can flash his old self, but Yankees fans are now going through that same transition w CC

You absolutely could be right, and if you go back through my posts you won't find me objecting to that possibility. My contention is that other possibilities were either as likely or more likely. Believe me, as Yankees fan, watching CC last night was not fun and I am absolutely concerned about his future.
