Overbay hit his 6th HR tonight.

I don't even know what to say about this anymore. It's like the Yankees could pull guys out of a bowling alley and they'd produce for them.

We will probably find out that Overbay took Cashman's call at a bowling alley.

Will always hate these douchebags, but you have got to give credit where it's due. A retirement home built lineup is putting in serious work.

PEDs, a beautiful thing :)

Worst active Yankees roster since probably the Stump Merrill teams and they're off to their third (tied) best start through 35 games since 1999, second best since 2004. Go figure.

Brett Gardner's UZR/150 in CF this year: 20.1

Curtis Granderson's UZR/150 in CF last year: -18.5

Going to be very frustrating if Granderson goes back to CF when he comes back. Hopefully the fact that he has been playing a lot of COF during his rehab stint is indicative of future plans.

EDIT: Also, small samplings aside, that's for all the folks who thought that Gardner's LF UZR ratings were simply a product of a CF playing COF, and that it wasn't a true reflection of his defensive abilities. The guy can go get it with the best of them.

Y228, it's all about the pitching. We're scoring just enough for our pitchers to hold it down. Doesn't hurt that Mo is having a vintage season either. We've got an all-star team coming back, starting with Grandy, Youk, and Tex this month.

It's the uniform. It motivates when you wear it and look in the mirror. What do sox players see when they look at those red shirts? Softball, chicken and beer.

i think gardner, wells, and ichiro are more than adequate in the outfield. Granderson will make it the best by far in the division. The piching does not need to be defended at all. many injuries plague the infield. But when you put that uniform on, you play better......it won't be that way for the whole season. I hope somone in the minors makes a breakthrough to move up.

Yeah, but you have watched enough baseball to know that the old cliche about pitching is only a half truth. You need to hit too if you want to win, consistently, month after month. Also, they're 12th in the league in ERA, so while their pitching has been good, it hasn't been exceptional. This 22-13 start, while impressive, has been built somewhat significantly on good fortune. And that's why your last part is the most important. Hopefully when the regulars come back they can start winning because they're simply better than the team across from them, rather for other, less impressive reasons.

Also, vintage Mo in terms of results, not vintage Mo in terms of production. Way too many hard hit balls this year, with last night as a prime example. I bring this up just to point out that if the process continues unchanged, Mo is going to start blowing some saves, and they're going to start losing some close games.

And this is a prime example of why fans of every other baseball team think Yankee fans are jackasses. Way to maintain the status quo.

228' date=' Yankees have won 23 games. Mo has saved 15 out of 15. i think criticism is unwarranted with regard to Mo.[/quote']

Well that's a thorough and comprehensive analysis. Anyway, Mo was really sharp today. A sharp contrast with yesterday.

Yeah, in Alabama football terms we call this going full Gump. You never want to go full Gump.

It's very simple with the Yankees. They hit enough to take the lead. They pitch enough to hold the lead. They have a closer who is the best of all time. We get Grandy back on Tuesday and Youk shouldn't be far behind

7 of our losses are by 4 or more runs. Only 5 of our wins are by 4 or more runs. We are 23-13, so in games decided by a save run differential, we are 18-6. That means that when we get beat, we get our asses kicked. When we win, it's close.

The uniform is part of what we call Yankees Pride. i am surprised that any Yankees fan would equate Gump with the Yankees or one of their fans. Actually, 228, never met one til now. Howdy.

Yanks are 7-1 in 1 run games.

I see regression coming.

Of course you do, lol. We wont stay playing .800 ball in 1 run games, but we also won't be winning all our games within a 3 run margin. Granderson is coming back. Youk and Tex aren't far behind.

BTW, how about the play of our rookie pitchers. Preston Claiborne, Vidal Nuno, and Adam Warren have been lights out since coming on board. The only one who is a long term reliever is Claiborne. Warren is a guy who I thought was a safe bet to become a middle of the rotation starter and he might get that shot next yr, but thus far he's been an integral part of the pen as the swing man. We are starting to see some of the depth on the pitching end pitching in, and it is with the guys who aren't even considered elite prospects

So this 104 win pace you're on is only going to improve??

Watch out, 2001 Mariners.
