Lowell, Olerud, and Aceves are former Yankees who went on to play with the Sox, not former Sox who went on to play with the Yankees.

Well we can slag out the worst move the Red Sox ever made and drone on about Babe Ruth, but my worry is that it would get around to Johnny Damon who to this day brings out the very worst anger in me---the slimy t raitorous bastard. He said he would never play for the Yankees, could never play for them during the negotiations he was having with the Red Sox late in 2005. Remember that? Then what did the rat do?

Exactly. I am a hardcore Red Sox fan, but for money, I'd play for the Yankees.

 

Hell, at this point, considering the debt I'm in, all it would take for me to set Dustin Pedroia's house on fire is fifty grand and a carton of cigarettes.

 

If one team offers more money than another, I don't blame someone for taking the higher offer. I might still hate them and boo them and possibly defile their wives if I get the chance, but when it comes down to it, I understand.

Money does talk and if given millions of dolllars i think all of us would dawn pinstripes with a red sox tshirt under the jersey.

But this discussion reminds me on what an engineer i work with told me one time on a train when he was starting the go through his divorce.

 

He told me no matter what the amount of money that coulda woulda shoulda been and the money gained or lost the only one true thing a man owns is his peace of mind and no amount of money will ever buy that.

Nothing wrong with taking a bigger paycheck, but don't swear up and down you would never do something like play for the sworn enemy and then go and sign with them. That is phoniness and hipocrisy carried to its worst degree. That's what Damon did and I despise him for it.
