Red Sox manager John Farrell said no third base additions are "being contemplated or imminent," Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports (on Twitter). Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reported this morning that there’s a belief free agent third baseman Scott Rolen would be interested in talking to the Red Sox.

I read this on cnnsi.com this morning.. Even if it meant parting with Jon Lester and Jacoby Ellsbury in Boston, some see Felix Hernandez as a ace with few peers. I think [the Red Sox] would pursue King Felix, but not Greinke. King Felix is special. He's like Roger Clemens and Pedro Martinez, so he'd be worth the expenditure of players and cash. Greinke, to me, is in a different class. He's having a great season. He had a great season in his Cy Young year, but he's kind of up and down year to year. There are the anxiety issues that you'd have to be concerned about. His GM in KC was Allard Baird, Boston's vice president of player personnel. Not sure that Greinke would be suited for the Boston market. [Ryan Kalish] may be the CF or RF of the future.

since the beginning of the season, when Boston was losing, the critics were harsh on the Sox and their manager.. now the sox are right behind Baltimore for second place and are getting ready to get Crawford and Ellsbury back.. was it the managing, or just the injuries?
