I believe that you post was in the context of responding to a post by 07 who expressed the opinion that certain posters would not be happy if the Red Sox made the playoffs. I was just wondering who those posters are. If you don't know the answer, maybe 07 does. Personally, I laugh at the notion of such posters in the minds of 07 and you.

When are you getting back?

I've been back from Fort Myers since last Wednesday, but I had some business in Boston on Wednesday and Thursday. I finally got home on Friday.

This next grouping of ST games may tell us more about the 2013 Sox than we have learned so far. Not saying you can really take much from ST games cause you really can't. However, almost all of the WBC guys are back around the league for one thing. For another, the hitters have been catching up to the pitchers and we are seeing much better hitting around the league since at least Saturday and Sunday. Lastly, out of the Sox first 18 ST games only 8 of them were against teams that anybody would think would at least be in the top half of teams in baseball and 4 of those were against the Rays who can pitch but if anything might even be a weaker hitting team this year than they have been. However 6 of the remaining 11 including the game today against the Orioles are against teams that you would think at least stand a chance of being in the top half of all MLB teams and have some hitting.

 

I don't know what LL paid the Twins to get all these games with them for one thing. In fact as many as the Sox have had with the Twins so far (4) the last 3 games of ST are against the cannon fodder Twins as well. The Sox will have had more ST games with the Twins than any other team when all said and done.

 

In truth, proximity of the Spring camps more than anything else tends to dictate who you play in the Spring. A few more games against the Yanks, Phillies, Jays and Orioles might offer up a sterner test at least of the Sox pitching.

Well at least she didn't mention anyone on this board but very deftly moved it on to the call-ins on the radio who bitch and moan more than anyone of us could at our best. I also think she might have had you, Sox Sport, Iortiz and me on that list, but I can only speak for myself. I am very critical when I see some of the s*** that has been going on with our team the past year plus. In fact, I really haven't liked what I've seen for the past four.

 

As for mvp, yes, I have said not winning a division, AL or WS constitutes failure to me, but as far as being pissed off if we made the playoffs, well, that is way off the wall of the biggest nut house on the planet. Of course, I want to see the Red Sox in the playoffs because if they get in, who knows? They might actually get hot and do something. You can succeed unless you first get into the house. Right mvp?

 

Now that we've got this crap out of the way, can we move on to the upcoming season which I think all of us are anxiously awaiting?

I do agree that the difference of opinions has been a little more humane this off season as compared to others. I think it's in most part that the active posters that have been on the board are posters that have been around awhile. Long enough for everyone to kind of know their schtick and what not. I mean when I first joined everyone took every chance they could to argue with Jacko, but now it's just general conversation, a laugh when he says something outlandish because you "know it's Jacko". That and the trolls have been less. I mean we had the one guy that had a hard on for you and Jacko for like a week, but for the most part no noob has come in stirring the pot.

 

Also if your going to claim to be the "King" of talksox, try not to get so sensitive every time someone hucks a rotten tomato at your royal carriage as it rolls down the street. The bulls eye on your back is just one of the perks of being the King.

I know I've really enjoyed the different opinions on here since I joined. Occasionally some have relied to me in a way that seemed nasty / immature.... but I have just ignored those as I realize everyone has bad days and says something they regret. Overall the regulars on here have been respectful and helpful to me. I wasn't defending myself at all. Kings don't have to do that. I was just curious about these fans who you think are miserable when their teams win. It is an absurd notion to me, so I asked for some names to be attached. No names came back in response beyond a reference to talk radio callers, so I will just conclude that my assumption was corrct that it is an absurd notion.

We have had some good baseball conversation, and people like Spitball started what I thought would be a really good thread for pure baseball discussion, but the "Strategy" thread has gotten less interest than I expected.

 

BTW: Bard looked like 2012 Bard yesterday. Walk and a HBP and 3 runs. Anyone get info on his velocity?
