I'm not freaking about the Jays, they're just one more team we have to contend with and we have to look after our own business and all that. But the fact is they're now back in the picture and they do have guys pitching well and guys hitting well all of a sudden. It's just the way baseball is.

To me, I just can't worry about the standings and what other teams are doing. The Sox have been playing much better than most of us projected. Let's see what the standings look like on August 1st. (Didn't most people think this division would be extremely tight to begin with?)

Everyone was quick to bury them, but they are far from dead in a division where there is no clearly superior team. The hole they dug for themselves may prove to be too deep, but I can think of several teams that I would rather play down the stretch than the Jays if we are competing for a playoff spot.

Also, the Reyes criticism is hysterical.

If Agon was on and off the DL for his whole career.

I was talking more in the sense of consistently being not just on, but being the heart of multiple teams that underperform and/or collapse.

What the hell man, if this was the Sox you would have said they were screwed

I would have been pretty upset if the Sox were 10 games under .500.

So much for the Blue Jays resurgence. If we win tonight, they'll be right back to being 12 games back. Which is right where they were when they started their winning streak.

So after the 4-day All-Star layoff, with a chance to set up their mighty rotation for the stretch, the Jays' first starter in the Rays series is...Esmil Rogers!

Wake up John Gibbons!

The Jays are playing extraordinarily wretched baseball. Leading 8-3 after the 6th inning tonight and now trailing 10-8.

Johnson's season has been a horror show. He's 2-8 with a 6+ ERA. Surprisingly, Buehrle is as steady as ever. I had assumed that he was having a down season, when checked his stats tonight, but I was wrong. He is having a very typical Buehrle season. For the 13th consecutive season, he is in double digits in the win column. He currently has 11 wins and that is no easy feat on this horrible Jays team. His sub-4 ERA at 3.92 is just slightly over his career ERA of 3.84, and he is well on his way to 200+ innings for the 13th straight season. You can set your clock to this guy.

Buehrle got off to a rough start but straightened himself out.

Buehrle is one of those guys you have to like. Thank God the Yankees never got him.
