That's way too much for one year of Floyd. Salty alone is possibly enough to get him. Maybe a lower tier prospect added in. They should be able to make two separate deals to get SP.

Other then that, the trade Ells route and sign Ross/Hamilton is very well in play.

That's exactly what the poster is implying. It's just worded strangely.

I think the trade for Floyd for Salty makes a lot of sense straight up

Trade Ellsbury + Iggy + 1 or 2 prospects to the DBacks for Upton & Bauer

The Rangers are wanting Upton & the Guardians are wanting Bauer

Swoop in & get both & that will be the move of the year

Let Upton hit toward the bottom of the order so he dont have any pressure on him

Hamilton Nap & Ortiz will do all the heavy hitting

Rotation

Lest Buch Floyd Bauer Lacky

i would also sign Brandon McCarthy as insurance for Lackey on a 1yr deal

Brain Wilson is a Definite let him throw the 7th or 8th until he is ready to close

That package probably doesn't even land Upton. And if it did I'm not interested in sending Barnes and Bogaerts to AZ which would be a must in that proposed deal

For some reason I dont think that getting Upton is gonna take our top tier of prospects

not when u throw Ellsbury & Iggy into a package

Wouldnt let any of the Killer Bees go no matter what

cant wait to see them in fenway

AZ will have a full OF even if they trade Upton. It doesn't make sense. They aren't going to have interest in Ells. Iggy is the Sox SS and will be unless a Drew is brought in on a couple year deal to keep the seat warm for Bogaerts.

I thought Drew would be a Red Sox before the Meetings started

But now it being day three Im wondering if he will be a Red Sox or not

The Rangers dont want to trade their young shortstop prospect

I think they will trade for Upton once they see Hamilton is leaving town

The Mets would be open to eating a portion of the money remaining on Johan Santana's deal in a trade, but so far the team hasn't received any inquiries, tweets Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.

13:$25.5M, 14:$25M club option ($5.5M buyout), that's what he's owed.

Ellsbury for Santana(Mets send 11M, make it 20M for 13 and covers buyout for 14 if Sox chose to opt out)

Lester

Buchholz

Santana

Floyd(trade)

Doubront

Lackey, Morales. Webster, De la Rosa waiting in the wings(maybe a Jurrjens too)

Wonder if the Braves would be interested in Ells + 1 for Teheran or Delgado.

Also wonder if the DBacks would be interested in Ells + 1 for Bauer, assuming they deal Upton.

Atlanta maybe but with Upton now on board it would be a stretch.

AZ will have a good OF even if they do trade Upton. I don't think they have much need for Ellsbury.

Maybe if the DBacks forget to turn "force trades" off.

Hahaha true... I would like to see Ellsbury for Bauer

Upton is prolly goin to Texas... Reports of a three team deal involving Texas AZ & Cleveland

That would package Bauer im sure

Seattle is prolly the only team to give up a top prospect to get Ells

i know nothing about seattle farm system... who could we get from them ?

HELL NO!!

Didnt the Mariners already release him?

Do they have any young major league pitchers? Or good pitching prospects?

They got Noesi from the Yankees in the Pineda trade.. They also have Erasmo Ramirez.. Not too familiar with any others though

Taijuan Walker, Donny Hulzen, James Paxton, and Steve Pryor are their top pitching prospects

I would love to see Santana here. He's had some injury issues, but the guy is a stonecold ace, and the equivalent of a Verlander/Weaver. Everything about him makes me believe he'll be worth the risk in 2013.

May I ask where Bard will be in 2013? Haha.

In the BP. I expect him back on track after a winter to kind of reset. His role in the BP? Ideally CL but for now it's TBD.

Bard is a big long shot. If he can recover anything close to his past form, it will be a pleasant surprise. I don't think he can be counted as a back of the bullpen guy. I have to believe that people who are optimistic about him did not see him pitch at the end of the season for the Sox. He was atrocious.- no stuff no command, nothing.

Right now I still see Salty for a SP(Floyd) as happening.

Ells could be traded now if the right deal can be found, but that might take some action to bust up the current Ranger induced log jam FA market before someone is ready to move on a CF. It's also conceivable they hold on to Ellsbury and move him later in the season. Or if the team is doing well and a SP is not needed they could keep him for the whole season and collect a pick after the season. I'm ok with any of these approaches.

Lester

Buchholz

Floyd

Doubront

Lackey/Morales/(FA)

It's not a Washington rotation. But if Doubront continues to progress and everyone else pitches near career averages it's not a bad rotation to start out the season.

Braden, Jurrjens, Hernandez, Liriano, Marcum, and McCarthy are all good one year candidates for depth moves too.

I suspect the Sox will try to put something together around Ells in order to get some real pitching that goes out beyond 2013. I would not be surprises to see Felix in that package. All things considered I don't think Felix will ever be more than a #3 rotation guy. I would be willing to give that up if we got something worthwhile in return.

This may have just guaranteed Bard as the 2013 Rolaids Relief Pitcher of the Year hahaha ;)

But seriously, I think he will be a good piece in the BP this season after getting a mental break and then coming back in with the mindset of pitching out of the BP. It will be one of the interesting story lines come ST for sure.

I think 1 if not 2 of this possibilities will be in boston.

How many of his outings did you see when he came back to the big club? Did you see any of his outings at Pawtucket?
