Please, do tell me how Bernie Williams .971 OPS in 1999 assists in our projections for 2013.

You guys don't get Jacko. He is smart and is very aware of the worrisome situations on his team. And he's hoping it works out for the best. Pretty much like any fan. If your trying to get him to completely sell on his team this early, your just wasting your time.

And of course he views things differently for his team and the Sox, duh. He is a Yankee fan on a Red Sox board. He's never going to crap on his team and fluff up his rival lol

Dealing with Jacko is like dealing with Si Robertson from Duck Dynasty. You have to decipher which parts of the story(post) are unbiased fact(his actual baseball knowledge) and what's just for entertainment.

Texeira to miss 8-10 weeks.

Source, Jack Curry from YES.

Even after 8-10 weeks, he's not very likely to be 100% at any point this season.

For the WBC's sake, it's lucky this happened in a normal tee drill and not in a game. If it had happened in a game people would have gone ape s*** even though it's no more of a risk then regular ST games.

This would be just the right time to announce the suspension for Cano.

Seriously, with the offseason losses and all these injuries, if the Yankees make the playoffs it will be one of the great achievements in team history.

Here's the current list of players the Yankees have either lost in the offseason, or will lose significant time from:

Swisher

Granderson

A-rod

Martin

Texeira

Ibanez

Chavez

Jones

Soriano

I don't understand why people are so keen on crowning them division champs already. The Jays should be able to walk away with it this year.

Not to mention the uncertain health of Jeter and Rivera.

And Hughes (bulging discs), and Pettitte, who hasn't thrown more than 130 innings since 2009, and Youk, who hasn't exactly been a grinder recently. And going with a rookie catching crew that isn't exactly inspiring.

Point being: if the Yankees had the Astros roster, a lot of people would pick them to win the division because they're "The Yankees" and that's all the reasoning people need.

If the Blue Jays had the current Yankees roster and injury situation, people would be pegging them for a 78-82 win season.

Because the Marlins were so awesome last year?

8-10 weeks sounds ominous when you think, man, that's 2 plus months. But when you consider that we're in early March, it isnt as ominous. It really just means we need to get through April. We've had s*** Aprils before and still won, so it isnt out of the realm of possibility. If this were a season long issue, then we'd be f***ed, but it isnt.

That being said, Tex's wrist injury is troubling. If they dont rest him enough, the tendon can tear and he'll be lost for the year.

I think it's quite possible for there to be a few really good players on a really bad team.

I have a feeling there is a move abrewing. I bet we get some scrap heap signing or trade that provides depth, but this season seems like the perfect time to go out and snag a big name mid season.

I read Carlos Lee and Aubrey Huff's names being floated around. You have to think Lee would be capable of adding some pop to line up.

In 2011, the Marlins were a 72 win team, who added Reyes, and Buerhle.

In 2012, the Jays were a 73 win team, who added Reyes, Buerhle, Johnson, Dickey, Cabrera. They also will likely have full seasons of guys like Lawrie, Bautista and Santos.

This team is significantly more talented than the 2012 Marlins. They've also seen some very good players leave their division this offseason.

In Yankee Stadium, I would rather see Aubrey Huff. That guy seems to be maddeningly inconsistent, but if he continues that trend, he should be dynamite this yr since he was f***ing abysmal last yr

Those are all good points. But I don't see them winning the division. They won the off season this year and that hasn't worked out well recently for those teams. They brought in a lot of talent, but brought in some baggage along with that talent. When the Division predictions comes out I'm picking them 3rd. They have talent but I don't see it gelling for this season.

Who is the baggage? They got rid of their biggest offender in Escobar, and avoided the Marlin's biggest malcontent in Hanley. Sure, Josh Johnson's health is a concern, but he came off a solid season, and Cabrera served his time as gracefully as possible.

The Yankees are apparently trying to get Derrek Lee out of retirement. That sounds less like a plan for while Tex is out and more like an insurance plan should Tex need surgery

And, perhaps less seriously, Chipper Jones. I think Cashman was just saying that in a casual "it would be great if" type way.

Surely there will be a bunch of guys available when teams make their roster cuts that will be as good, if not better, than Lee?

Posted
There are definitely some options and if the option requires either big money or big parts, then you can be assured that reports on Tex are unfavorable. There is definitely a chance that after 4 weeks, Tex doesnt improve and needs season ending surgery

The jete man! What's up dude?
hey bellhorn, sorry i missed your post....i'm doin alright, thanks...hope all is well with you...can't wait to get this season rolling..gonna be a rough one..hoping for the best, but kind of looking like shades of 08' right now...serious power outtage...pitchers will have to come up big this season..especially CC, Kuroda and Andy...

also reached out to Scott Rolen which imo is useless because he already turned down a return to Reds' camp...to me, he was done last year....

He's a pretty bad defender, according to fielding metrics, but he wouldn't be the worst option to man LF while Granderson is down.
