One thing I am happy about is that the quality of the baseball has gotten better and better. Could hardly have been worse for post season during the division series but has gotten much better. That 9th inning sort of put an exclamation point on all the things that have been going wrong for the Yanks though. Can't wait till the 9th to start to think about what the hell you are doing at the plate.

I am beginning to wonder if the lack of a DH made it easier for the NL teams to find their rhythm and get squared up as their series had fewer mental and physical errors while the AL series were still sort of kicking the ball around the field.

Every time the Tigers play the Yankees, I always hear how the Yankees lost the series. If the Tigers scored as little runs as the Yankees have, we'd hear how great the Yankees pitching is, and not how bad the Tigers offense has been. TBS is sure to point out every pitch by a Tiger pitcher left up in the zone. They also point out Delmon's HR would not be a HR pre 2003, but fail to mention Nunez benefited as well from the fence being moved in.

The Yankees will have lost this series when it ends. You cannot hit this badly in a post season and survive. The Tigers hit pretty well vs the A's and the Yankees pitching has been consistently good through their 8 games. But when you have a roster of superstars and score the second most runs in the game, it is embarrassing to put up this kind of performance. I mean, ARod hasnt had a hit vs righties. Cano just ended a 29 at bat hitless streak. Swisher is the worst offensive player in the playoffs in Yankee history. I had to gamecast the Fister start, and there were a ton of pitches on hitters counts that were up that we swung through, which is completely unacceptable. My hope is that this causes a little bit of a philosophical change and some coaching changes. Girardi probably saved his job by pinch hitting for ARod and then benching him twice. That showed balls and a willingness to go against the grain, which is something most Yankee fans have been waiting for during his tenure here. But I fail to see how Kevin Long can keep his job. I obviously hope the Yankees can win 4 in a row, but I doubt that happens. What I do forsee is the Yankees taking the next 2 and then imploding at home, just to make it a little more painful. If they do follow the course of history and lose this series, though, I hope they do it tonight. Dont drag this thing out. Shut off the ventilator, turn off the drips, start the morphine and let this season come off life support and die

I'm thankful that the New York Yankees chose to lose every time they play Detroit in the playoffs. It's really considerate of them.

Not sure what game cast you seen, but the one I saw showed Fister getting squeezed pretty good, especially in the first inning. Fister wasn't getting the calls on the outside that Pettite was getting. That's why the Yankees had so many hitters counts.

The Tigers didn't hit well at all against the A's. Most of their runs in the first part of the series came from errors by the pitcher and a dropped ball by Coco Crisp. Not to mention Fielder has done nothing, but that's just that great Yankee pitching. The Yankees don't get beat, they lose.

This series isn't quite over yet. The Yankees have Sabathia, Pettitte and Kuroda lined up, and I have a feeling their bats are going to break out a bit tonight.

Actually I would prefer this series go seven with the Yanks faltering in the ninth by way of successive K's by Grandy, SwishSwish and ARoid restored to the lineup. That way I get as much baseball as I can get and still get to see the Yanks get stomped most painfully.

Plus there is added benefit in that to get it to seven maybe SwishSwish and Special K Grandy restore themselves a bit convincing the Yanks to keep them.....if only....Be still my heart!!!!

I didnt like the deal at the time because I thought Jackson would be able to compare favorably to Grandy and I liked Kennedy. Everyone thought I was a nutjob to like Kennedy, and lo and behold, he has turned out to be solid in the desert. I was happy with the trade last yr since Grandy put up phenomenal numbers, but after seeing him die in the last half plus the playoffs, I cannot say we should be happy. We gave up a lot (Kennedy, Coke, and Jackson) to get Grandy and the WAR we gave away compared to the WAR we received isnt even close

Tigers can't let this thing go back to NY. They need to kick the $panks when they are down. It would be nice to see them get a couple runs off of CC early. CC has to be going into the game thinking he has to be perfect because the O is not scoring a lot for him. That is a lot of pressure, plus if he stumbles the $panks are golfing tomorrow. GO TIGERS!

If the Yankees follow the numbers, they wont win this series. I will feel better on the inside if they just end it here. But I know how they work. They will take the next 2 and then drop a huge deuce in the stadium to finish the yr

If the Yankees win tonight because they play well then they might actually have a shot at this thing. I thought that in part the reason why the Sox were able to turn the trick on the Yankees was because everybody including the Yankees believed that Kevin Millar stuff about "don't let us win one".

The Yankees never seemed to be the same team in that series after the Sox won game 4 . The Sox were very loose even going into elimination and they stayed that way after winning game 4. The Yankees just seemed to really tighten up while the Sox remained loose and played well the rest of the way.

If the Yankees play well tonight, get some hits for a change, have some good at bats, maybe the same thing will happen. So far though it seems like the Yanks are the team that is tight although they are trying to stay loose...it all seems so forced. The Tigers so far seem to be the team that is loose and taking these games as they come. Yanks carry the baggage of being the Yankees into this thing which makes it hard for them to adopt the role that the Sox played as they came back from 0-3..

LOL!

CC will no longer be pitching game 7 if it gets that far.

 Don't think it will go that far!

I wonder how many NYY players had to cancel their tee times with their Red Sox player friends for tomorrow? ;) :D

I live about 15 miles north of Comerica and it has yet to rain and it doesn't even look like rain is on the horizon.

yankees didnt want their ace pitcher to go 3 innings and get the game called of.. thts all i can think happened.

Yankees did nothing to support CC in this game....he bailed them out of at least two innings where the Yanks just kicked that ball around the infield.

I am really really beginning to wonder though. This epic collapse by NY. Two seasons in a row of failure on a grand scale by the Red Sox....something has fundamentally gone sideways with the game. Players with heart that don't just fold their tents when things go wrong stick out like sore thumbs now...maybe its all the money.
