Looking at 0-5 on this road trip, 10 losses in 13 games.

Again, unless they start to win some games, V may not make the trip back with the team from the west coast.

V is a wounded animal who should be put out of his misery.

Dick Radatz is rolling over in his grave.

Radatz never had to do what Aceves has done this year. He has been all over the map.

He is now being used to empty the garbage.

Radatz was about 6 foot 5 and 260 lbs. Strictly a closer. Sidearmer.Overpowering for a few years, but didn't last. Most of these guys don't last.

The entire pen has been made into garbage by over pitching, and its because of the terrible starting pitching, not V's doing.

Part of the problem is they use relievers when they don't have to--like when they are comfortably ahead. No sense in using 4 relievers to win 8-1. These guys wear out from a ton of 1 inning appearances where they throw 20-30 pitches heating up in the BP.

If I were Henry, I would offer Billy Beane the Moon and half of Mars to run the team in Boston.

Why would he leave Oakland now if he didn't leave 10 years ago when Henry made the offer then?

Maybe a small part, but I'd say the historically weak starting rotation that usually has us behind in the first inning is the real issue.

1964 - 157innings in 79 games

You don't get there without being "all over the map" or as "strictly a closer."

Yeah... something really wrong when they give up a lot of runs early. Lead the majors in that. Probably the coaching or preparation.

wow. Closers pitched more than one inning in those days. Radatz might pitch the last 2 or 3 innings. Fingers and Sutter were like that.

Radatz was the original "Monster" --before the LF wall was called the Green Monster.

He was Dick "Monster" Radatz.

Yet he only got 29 saves that year. Not simply a closer.

Beckett pitching like an ace in dodgers uniform. Figures.

83 pitches through 5. Not an ace. His last start wasn't ace-like either.
