Soxsport I actually think V has been burned more taking the starter out too soon than he has leaving him in too long this year. Most of his instances leaving them in too long have come when his hands were kinda' tied by a starter that has been bombing out since the 2nd or 3rd inning and a pen full of ragged out arms. At least in those instances ya' sorta' fell like V is stuck. However the times when he has taken the starter out to soon have been a real mystery......almost every time the only thing you can think (admittedly with limited information) is that V is playing a hunch.....which we know he likes to do.

Not sure I would too often join V at the race track.

Cook was pitching on short rest. He had a tough first inning he bounced back. He had a six run lead. I thought he looked gassed. Of course you take him out.

It's still there, this has just been a hard game to watch. It is emphasizing that we need to make more changes. I just think a win tonight in particular is something we could all use and watching things like Melancon come out and do his worst yet again while AGon hits a 3 run bomb in his first Dodger AB is a little tough to take.

I could not see how he was pitching at that point....(had the duty with the kids). By the time I came back he was out. He did look OK the last time I actually saw him in this game...although one thing I have noticed about Cook is that it goes away real fast. Not like he slowly declines over something like the last ten or twelve pitches of his stint. He seems to shrivel up in about five to seven pitches. Before you know it here comes those upper knee cap pitches and the ball is flying out of the park.

That's why BV was right to pull him.

Ah but there is your mistake you glutton for punishment you. Wait till the 9th inning of the Dodger game and see if it is tied or close with Mr AGons coming to plate. Chances are petty good that you will feel much better about things after that at bat. I do think all three of the major players in the trade will do better in LA than they did here. I think we will just have to get used to that and recognize that this is a good deal for us regardless. Even just based on the PR benefits and getting Beckett pitching in the NL West this is likely a good deal for LA also.....but hey....they can't hurt us from way over there.

Freaking Ellsbury and his weak groundballs hit. Feels like that last Saturday game in New York. Come up twice and a flyball was needed, he fail both time.

It seems no matter how bleak things may appear, you can always count on the Royals to suck.

Why are you leaving the Astros out of this?

The Sox are so rarely able to get a guy in even from 3rd with less than two outs....just get the ball far enough to the outfield or make the infielder move a little to his left or right and game over. You even have Ciriaco on third. He is going to cover that distance in 0.0

But no...just as weak and abysmal an effort especially by Ells....you would expect Ells to have enough bat control to get that guy in somehow. You aren't really looking for anything but get the guy home.

I guess I got my one successful sacrifice though and that is apparently the Sox limit. We are just going to have to be more careful about where we use those precious sacrifices.

Just got in, and the last I heard the score was 9-3. I think some of these guys in the pen are gased. Who blew up tonight?

The name starts with M and it ends with me slitting my wrists. <_>

A nice big storm cloud that refuses to hold big leads.

Melancon.......Ya' ever notice when he sets up to throw, especially from the stretch he looks like a turtle about to pull his head into his shell. Must be a career of watching line drives whizz past his ear.

He's taking testosterone injections too?

he is joining the prima-donnas that got shipped. apparently Aceves threw a fit when he was told he wasnt closing tonight or for the rest of the season not sure..
