This bullpen is a joke, Miller and Melancon both f***ing suck. Melancon comes in and throws 3 pitches, gives up 2 hits and both hits end up scoring. lol.

Melancon was one Bennie's great signings this off season.

What did you guys think? We were going to make the post season now? They just unloaded a shitload of guys today and we do have an offseason a few short months away.

No, I'm not expecting the playoffs. I'm expecting this team to be able to hold a 6 run lead against the f***ing Royals. Obviously, I was asking for way to much, especially with Melancon pitching.

V should have avoided bringing in Melancon at all costs tonight just to give the fan base one decent night. Melancon is just an instant buzz kill. Should not be allowed to pitch in any game where the run differential is less than 10 either way.

Melancon has yet to show us anything...ever. I don't see whay we give him so many chances. We have three relief pitchers on this team, Bard, Breslow and maybe Tazawa. Everyone else is nuclear garbage. And hopefully Bard can fix himself and come back in his normal role next season.

Melancon is one of the reasons I don't think Larry will be giving Ben the keys to the car anyime soon.

Anyone have any insight into why Aceves is suspended? Apparently he got into an argument with V. Anymore details as to what it was about?

Aceves was in the clubhouse prior to the game. The right-hander gave up five runs in one-plus inning in the wild 14-13 loss to the Angels on Thursday, after which he showed some anger, both with himself and the team, in a media scrum. There were rumblings that Andrew Bailey, who recently returned from thumb surgery, will be taking over the closer's role from Aceves.

Bailey got the save in a 4-3 win over the Royals on Friday. Aceves was seen angrily leaving manager Bobby Valentine's office after that game.

Sounds like it has to do with Bailey taking over closers job.

Edit: Also just read this:

Sources said Saturday that the suspension was the result of Aceves' insisting on meeting with GM Ben Cherington on Saturday to voice his displeasure over not closing. Cherington declined to meet with him, saying he was too busy. Aceves then "disappeared" from the ballpark, and subsequently was suspended.

Well then f*** Aceves. I assumed he hated closing as much as we hated him closing. The f***ing guy single handedly lost 8 games closing for us and throws a fit and leaves because the guy we actually got to do the job is ready to take over?

Show him the f***ing door as well.

I would be willing to be that Angels game had something to do with it though. Ace was clearly all done before the first HR was hit, never mind the other hits and the 2nd HR.

That is the one situation where the guy on the mound has got to come out......as eventually even recording outs becomes close to impossible unless you get him outta' there. Then I think the Bailey announcement was the very next day.

Clearly Ace should have seen the handwriting on the wall through. You would think he should have figured that asking for a meeting the BC was not going to work out for him at this point. Although Management is totally to blame for having enabled the players here, as a player you would have to think that they were already stepping on managements very last nerve.

Gotta' rein this stuff in sooner or later. I just hope to dear God that we don't hear another "we don't do things that way around here" comment.

Valentine has been managing on the edge recently. Leaving in Aceves too long to get bombed. Then not telling him he wasn't closing the next night--no excuse for Aceves blowing up--

Now he takes Cook out with a 9-3 lead after 72 pitches, and gets bitten in the ass by the bullpen.

Frankly, Bobby is no improvement over Tito in game managing. Lucchino should have let Ben pick the manager. The Red Sox are one big battle of egos.

Won't you just laugh your ass totally off if we see a press release out of LA media stating that a text was sent from AGons phone to Dodger management asking for a meeting? Won't you just fall over?

I honestly think it's to the point that V does some things out of spite.

Those kinds of things don't get to the media in other cities.

Soxsport I actually think V has been burned more taking the starter out too soon than he has leaving him in too long this year. Most of his instances leaving them in too long have come when his hands were kinda' tied by a starter that has been bombing out since the 2nd or 3rd inning and a pen full of ragged out arms. At least in those instances ya' sorta' fell like V is stuck. However the times when he has taken the starter out to soon have been a real mystery......almost every time the only thing you can think (admittedly with limited information) is that V is playing a hunch.....which we know he likes to do.

Not sure I would too often join V at the race track.

f***ing stupid AB salty.. he threw 4 fastballs off the outside of the plate in the same exact location. Salty watched the first one go by for ball one then swung and missed at the next three.
